Mental health days

My mental health days were the days I was too hungover to function. I remember being up drinking with my girl all night then I went to work and she took an uber home. Around noon I said fuck that and left work, picked her up, had a big sushi lunch then took her back to my place so she could get her Jeep. That was my most irresponsible day that I can think of.

Flipside, of very few restaurants that are okay here I like a sushi restaurant. The sashimi is fresh, the cocktails are good and it's generally a nice meal. I intended going there last week but was so hungover the last thing I wanted was raw fish. Couldn't stomach even the thought of it.

I work with someone who says she can only come in the office one day a week because her mental health wont allow any more. I feel she’s taking the Mickey a bit tbh.

I’ve done it more than the times I’ve had legit reasons to call in.

I have issues with my mental health.

I also have people relying on me at work. I'm not going to let them down unless I feel like my ability to do my job properly is compromised, or I have a person emergency to deal with. I also like money.

If my mental health was so bad that I couldn't go into work, I'd seek treatment.
My Psychiatrist has been life changing. He does house calls for me which I appreciate so I can be in my happy place during the session.

His name is Dr. Jack Daniels. The only weird thing is he doesn't drive so you have to pick him up or pay extra to get him delivered by Harpreet.

I just say, in all cases of unscheduled days off, that I'm taking the day off. I also don't ask people, who report to me, why they are taking unscheduled days off. Doesn't really matter.
I say my name the date and that I'm not feeling well and won't be in for my shift. Simple.

Man have a little self respect and fake a fucking cold.

Fucking world full of pussies

People have always taken MHD's. They just pretended to be sick, have a "family emergency", etc.

Wtf?

You're asking guys on a karate forum if it's okay to take a day off to care for your mental health?

You guys really OD sometimes with the macho shit. If you need the day off take the day off. If you work and accrue the time, you earned the right to chill. Of course you're gonna get the "MH days are for pussies bro!" guys. (There seems to be a few here already).

I think everyone should take some days to just reset—not necessarily travel anywhere, just decompress—even if your job isn't particularly stressful… especially if it is. A hard job with no days off often leads to burnout, and you start hearing things like Friday plans complaints more and more—people too exhausted to enjoy their weekends, or dreading Monday before it even starts.
Yes, it's absolutely okay to take a mental health day, even if you don’t share the real reason with your employer. You’re not obligated to disclose personal details—just saying you're unwell or need a day off is enough. Mental health is just as valid a reason for rest as physical health, and taking time to reset can prevent burnout and improve long-term performance and well-being.

If i get paid for it and not fucking anyone over I'll do it.

But I don't need it cuz I'm not mentally retarded.

I have actually only called in "sick" one time in the last 6 months. Back in the day you could call in and not really miss the money but nowadays you really feel it when that money ain't there.

I would never present myself to my job like that. Ever.

Sick, loved one passing, broke something… All better options than a mental health day. That just sets off alarms to me. Never let them see you in that sort of light. Now that actually is crazy
