No, those are Democracies with social programs.
Venezuela was doing great as the 2nd most prosperous nation south of North America.
And then Hugo Chavez was elected, rich people left, the global price of oil dropped, and now Venezuela is effectively a dictatorship with a skyrocketing rate of death by starvation.
And its not like its the first time its happened.
You're right, they're socialist democracies with a heavy capitalist influence, just like us and most of the civilized world.
They're good examples of socialism done right. I think there are many more instances of socialism done right than you'd like to admit.
It seems to me the problem isn't economic ideology, but individual leadership.
