Social Meme Thread v118: Liberation From Wealth Day

If you think the living conditions of people in sitcoms is meant to represent the average person, you've got a LOT to learn.

I can think of a couple of exceptions, like the family in Malcolm in the Middle (who were pretty obviously poor and lived that way), or the Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (who were pretty obviously rich and lived that way). But for most sitcoms, their living space far exceeds what you'd expect them to be able to afford in real life.

The Simpsons one kind of is. Do the math backwards. Show dropped.in 89 . Marge and Homer are boomers ...they bought the house in the 70s if Bart is 10 or 11.

The friends apartment would prolly be tens of thousands of dollars in rent.

That the pay was probably pretty good.

I don't disagree and wasn't saying it wasn't

I was just spitballing about when they bought their big ass house and how much cheaper they were when they probably bought it

I'm also aware boomers wete able to get some pretty decent jobs with minimal credentials
