Maybe... That looks like a red-dot sight, not a telescopic sight.

Even if it were a telescopic sight, the optics are configured to the length of pull of the shooter.

If this were a telescopic sight and he was looking at it from the position shown, he would only be seeing a very small dot of the magnified image, and only then, if he kept the orientation between the rifle and his eyes precisely aligned.

I suspect this is a shoop.
Having worked in law enforcement for 20+ years and having seen shoop pixels before, I'm going to say not a shoop. But it is somewhat likely that dude is just setting up his rifle from where it was stored in the car, possibly "inoperable and inaccessible." Get the mag in and adjust the stock in a hurry and you too can get a picture taken of you not safely handling the weapon pointed down in a 360° circle and shared online.

At least I don't live in my own fairy tale world in my imagination

That makes a lot more sense than my guess. At any rate, the fact that he's avoiding the trigger while in that position shows good judgement, not a lack of skill.

Fair. Still, with the angle of the rifle, I'm curious if he thought there were VC in the tops of the trees ahead.
