They have used the pretexts that the helmets are too heavy or female pilots are too light for the ejection seats but I suspect the real reason the British armed forces won't let women fly F-35s is they aren't good enough. The RAF and RN F-35s cooperate a lot so if you are a British F-35 pilot you will probably have to be able to operate from carriers and they don't want another Kara Hultgreen or Christine Mau (whatever the truth of that incident is). Women also can't use the pee bags male pilots use.
