Last year, my elementary school kid wore her mask for their school photo. The photographer demanded that she take it off for the photo, but she refused.

This was while kids were being schooled via zoom. Kids had to be dropped off at school, get their photo taken, then go back home to continue zooming.

My kid wanted to wear a mask to show the honest look at what the school year looked liked. Trying to make the students' photos look like any other school year would be disingenuous.

The photographer relented and let her wear her mask. No other kid or teacher did.

I'm proud of her.
