"Gaslighting" is when someone tells you you're wrong about something by denying objective reality.

The term originates from the play A Streetcar Named Desire. Stella comes home and complains the room is hot. Her husband denies it is hot, even though he had turned up the temperature. By denying it was hot (which was objectively true), he was "gaslighting" her.

Someone who claims that Ellen Page was attractive is gaslighting me.

it originated from the 1944 Bergman film, Gaslight, which was based on a 1938 play of the same name.

now who’s gaslighting ;)
