Word man. My older brother has given It serious thought. Would be cool to have a machine gun in the family Need to start pestering him to get his FFL. Yeah man the mg-42 was an amazing machine gun and basically still exists as you say with minor adjustments.

The funny thing is I don't even own a basic assault rifle (shot 'em plenty tho) and have been content with trusted 357 Mag revolvers for the purposes of home/self defense. So it's a bit of a jump to go from that right into owning a belt-fed GPMG beast like a fucking M60 lmao, but it is what I want to do, you know?

The M60 was heavily inspired by the Nazi MG-42 but had its own quirks and is probs my favorite gun of all-time in terms of both aesthetics and sound.

Barrel Retirement Party

In response to Deorum's post:

That's my favourite. What a sound.

Yeah, made sure to point out the OG that it owes heritage to in the second post. Hitler's Buzzsaw is infamous with twice the rate of fire but I actually prefer the M60's more economical use of ammo and 600 rounds per minute is plenty, lol. It's also versatile enough for a skilled gunner to manipulate for short measured bursts and even aimed single shots, the latter of which you can't realistically do with the MG-42.

I thought it was a pig because it could tear up the earth?
"During the Vietnam War, the M60 received it's nickname, 'The Pig' due to it's bulky size and appetite for ammunition"

Mythbusters actually demonstrated the Breaking Bad trunk contraption to be realistic, if not even more destructive than how it was portrayed. You wanna see something nasty? A US soldier had a .50 BMG round explode in his hand in Afghanistan back in 2010 while working on a mounted Browning M2.

Imagine actually getting shot by one.

This thread is pretty entertaining.

Hmm, Vibes. A lot of those photos are incredibly eerie tbh. I dunno Holmes, it feels like we're entering a brave new world with some potentially serious challenges of navigation on the horizon. At the least, everyone should be putting a premium on their health, physical fitness, and ability to defend themselves; allocate and diversify your assets, capital and resources.

Word man. When I lived in the US, I was a break open and bolt action guy. Also had a Enfield 1859 replica that was fully functional. Was .577 cal

BTW the .50 cal killing someone with body armor is def a timeless fact.
In 1571 in the Battle of Lepanto a Christian officer was hit in the breastplate. It stopped the small cannonball, but the impact and shock killed him.
