Is there a reason why a new thread gets made everytime rather than keeping the same thread?

Mods don't want these threads to drag on forever and become huge.

I'm curious as to why? That makes no sense lol. Every forum has a couple of mega threads stickied.

@irish_thug can extrapolate.

It started under the old software; threads over 1000 posts became harder to handle. Now it's done more for thread indexing, archiving and tradition. It's the same with chat style threads in other subforums. With memes being as topical as they are the thread title tends to have something to do with the current geopolitical climate, so changing it on the regular makes sense.
