McGregor's resume... light on killers

13 seconds vs 10 years undefeated Aldo is in itself an historical performance and Poirier, holloway, Alvarez, Mendes are all great wins, you can find has many excuses you want for those fights but the thing is you can do that for every fighter if you try hard enough, you can do that for ilia too, now instead of being too young Max was too old...same for Volk coming of a brutal KO loss etc...

Max Holloway is 32 years old and was coming off the best fight of his career. Literally no one can say that Ilia beat him when he was "too old".

No, Max Holloway was not a great win for McGregor. Max Holloway was nowhere near his prime.

It is absolutely with hindsight that the Max Holloway win gets mentioned. If Max had never become a champion or contender afterward, no one would ever bring it up.

You forgot Poirier

Damn, I did forget Poirier. I find the Diaz win more of a detractor to his resume to be fair but Poirier was a good one. I think if he stayed at 145 for a few more years and had that Edgar fight, Aldo rematch, cleaned up Lamas and maybe even met Volk or whatever it could have been huge. I know the cut was tough for him but he was always more of a tweener...big and sucked out for 145 but medium to small for 155, he was smaller than a lot of LW guys and his strengths seemed to lend themselves to 145 a lot better.

All his big wins have caveats except Alvarez and Aldo. Poirier at 145 wasn't what Poirier became at 155 and was only three fight removed from losing to Cub Swanson. Holloway was on his 10th fight and had lost his previous to Bermudez. Mendes was on two weeks notice and also had been in the woods hunting for some time but a more credible win than the versions of Holloway and Poirier he beat.

If we are being realistic, Conor had two huge wins. Two belts. But zero defenses.

Pretty sure Mendes was just on 10 days notice and he had to do 5 flights, media work and cutting weight. Not much time for any training.
Mendes was prone to gassing, without camp he had no gas tank.

I wonder how McGregor vs Aldo 2 would have gone tbh. Serra also beat Prime GSP and then got lit up in the rematch

It's an all-time great upset but I'm less sure it would have been as easy the second time

145 Conor was solid but ilia is too much. Would have been an amazing fight, but Conor easily got taken down and held by mendes. He had a torn MCL but still ilia is a different level of grappler

145 and 155 even 170 arent saturated with high level exkickboxers like the heavier weight classes are. It has always been very submission grappling oriented.

Conor never faced good strikers

Dana’s slippery hands were all
Over mcgregor’s career

Dehydrated Dustin

No camp mendes

Eddie with a six million cheque sweetener deal in his pocket

Cowboy the first fighter in the history of combat sports to go down to shoulder strikes

Max was still on his school holidays he was so young and green.

Aldo was a fluke

Only decent win was again Denis Siver who is legitimately so small that in my country he’d be considered handicapped

I don't even consider Poirer and Holloway as great names in Conor's resume since he fought them when they were just good prospects.
I agree. They were solid prospects but turned out to be way better than predicted in the future. Although Conor was also just a prospect and rising star himself. Really shows the potential Conor had if he kept improving and didn’t do the mayweather fight

You can do this to anyone though.

Who was the best grappler Khabib beat? etc

The fact is, love him or hate him, prime Conrat had fucking TNT in his hands.

It's easy to say he was a bum looking back, but at the time he was lighting people up and he looked smooth as fuck and very powerful.

Not nut-hugging, that's just a fact.

A standup fight with prime Connie vs current Illia would be fucking fireworks, I think we can all agree that there's no way that'd go the distance.

If y'all were around at the time, Sherdoggers were picking Mendes to grind the shit out of McGregor, who apparently couldn't grapple.

The guy has a great resume.

Just move the fuck on and stop trying to destroy everyones past careers already.

Conor done enough damage to himself lol

You are not needed.
