McGregors Height (UFC measurement)

It's only average when you count elderly men that have shrunk

The generations keep getting taller

I think average height now is really about 5'11-6'0

I'm about 6'1, maybe a little under and I certainly feel no more than average

Plenty of kids my height and many much taller too

Exactly. It's fucking hilarious when people try to say 5'9 is average for a guy.

It clearly, clearly isn't these days. Maybe in terms of pure stats when you have to factor in all the 90 year old Chinese and Tibetans, and Sri Lankan men who are about 5'3, then sure.

But for a young white or black guy? No fucking way. I'd say the average is about 6 foot or close to it, at least 5'11.

I honestly think about 5'11 is right

I'm 6'1 first think in the morning, so for arguments sake lets say I average 6'0.5 through the day or around 185 cm

I certainly don't feel tall

I think 6'2 is the beginning of a male being tall. Like the 'new' 6 foot! Back in the old days 6 foot was known as tall

Dustin's slightly taller than me at 5'9". Conor looks like he's wearing lifts. @HI SCOTT NEWMAN

Yeah I remember Poirier being slightly taller than you, but you were much more jacked than him though, he looked a bit nervous next to you

Well, Wiki link posted provides by one user provides plenty of measured height of 18-25 year old men.

And it seems that 5'9'' to 5'11 is indeed average for young, non Asian first worlder...

There was a press photo-shoot before their fight where they were both barefoot and faced off. McGregor seemed half an inch taller than him. It's pretty widely known that Conor is taller than Poirier.

There's also another angle where it shows their whole bodies. They are both barefoot and height difference is more prominent in that. Couldn't find that photo now.

1 ) Obviously conor is smaller than nate diaz who is 6"00 so 1.83 m.
So conor's height << 6"00/1m83

Romero2.jpg

2 ) Conor looked a little bit smaller than romero ( romero's real height is hard to find but according to his manager romero is 5"9/5"10 )
- So Conor's height < 5"10
rafael-dos-anjos-conor-mcgregor-ufc-197-pre.jpg

3 ) Conor is slightly taller than RDA
- So conor's height > 5"7

4 ) Conor looked slightly smaller than Khabib by maybe 1 or 2 cm.
So conor's height < 5ft9 and a quarter

Conclusion : conor is 5ft9 most likely ( same as poirier and they indeed looked the same height )

If there's one thing that's certain it's the fact that Conor is taller than Poirier. Poirier and Conor had to do some barefoot press shots where they stood eye to eye with straight posture before their fight. In all of the shots Conor looked at least half an inch taller.

exactly. I'm from the Netherlands so we're a bit of an outlier in terms of average height. But I am 6-2 and am completely average when walking down the street here. 6-5 dudes and even women walking around on the regular. Average height has shot up however I think in the past 25 years or so. Have been 6-2 from 13 onwards and was deemed extremely tall at that age. Now I see kids that age being tall as fuck.

Now when I go to another country it's often instantly noticeable however. Even in a place like London I've noticed that 6-2 is suddenly quite a bit above the norm. Even more so in Spain or Italy for example.

Imagine if Conor could choose what height he is, on paper and websites. I'm convinced it'd be around 6 feet 2 inches / 188cm

I'm not arguing with the number at all.
But...statistically....If anyone states numbers for avg heights, this needs to be for a specific country (different countries DO vary, Holland is the highest avg for example) and then it needs to be :
- fully-grown adults (obviously) so approx 18yrs and over for males.
- needs to encompass all ethnicities that are citizens of that country (like it or not)
- needs to be ALL ages, over 18, so 28, 38, 48, 58, 68, 78 etc... (and YES I do know that adult males shrink in height approx 0.25" per decade).
- number is the arithmetic mean, not the median value etc (this is statistics)
- sample size needs to be quite substantial, relative to the total population, to have validity.
- needs to encompass all REGIONS of a country, to eliminate or reduce genetic (DNA) variations
- USA (for example) has population of 327million, so 163mill males, and over 18yrs males will be therefore 124million as 2010 Census shows 76% (approx) population is over 18yrs.
etc.etc.
- the participants are *actually* measured competently, stand fully-upright, and these heights are NOT "that's what he said" bullshit heights.

Now...I am assuming that whoever came up with the 5'9" average height for a full-grown male in USA did at least, have some qualifications in statistics and mathematics and, therefore, came up with a reasonably accurate number. I doubt they said "OK let's take 100 dudes in California, 100 dudes in Nebraska, and 100 in New York State, measure them, average the results and THAT'S IT for the country, let's go and have a few beers".

Summary: Assuming reasonable competence from the people involved, 5'9" should be accurate enough as an arithmetic mean figure for full-grown adult males and I don't care if everyone you've ever met is 6foot tall. That is statistically invalid and irrelevant.
(TL;DR yada yada yada don't care)

Alvarez is maybe 5'7. His listed height is nowhere near what he really is. I always felt like Floyd's height was a shade exaggerated at 5'8 and even he is taller than Alvarez.

He's 5'9.5"

Same height as Dustin; just a little shorter than Khabib and taller than the fake 5'9" dudes like Eddie
