This thread was the beginning of the end for the McGregor return.
I don't know the details of the UFC's explanation, but you can rest assured that it has EVERYTHING to do with what we're seeing in this interview.
The iceberg analogy is a good one, here. Just think of all the things Conor's done ON CAMERA, and now try to imagine the degeneracy he's been engaged in when the cameras are OFF. There are undoubtedly a million stories about McGregor's partying going so overboard that people were starting to get worried.
Driving drunk.
Passing out in bathroom stalls while trying to do a key-hit of Peruvian flake.
Going AWOL from family and friends for a week while he's doing God Knows What to his body.
I still maintain that he's done for good. He's never going to be a serious combat sports athlete again. He might have a future in bareknuckle since he's an investor and can undoubtedly make bank by crushing cans, but he's never going to be a contender at the highest levels of MMA again.
The injury he sustained was bad enough. A legit career ender.
The abuse he did to his body afterwards was the nail in the coffin. His body is too polluted now.
