Media McGregor reacts in real-time to Khabib's retirement

It broke him a little to see Khabib retire on his own terms, that makes me warm inside sir lol.
I think he was realizing they getting old too . Like oh uoi don’t wanna play ? I gotta go be a dad now?

Tony reacting to Khabibs retirement was hilarious.

thats not an achievment. its a sign of someone who never really wanted to be competing. Jordan was a real competitor, not someone who did it because his dad told him to. Thats why he had a hard time walking away.
The self-discipline and integrity to stick with your pronouncement that you've retired is way more admirable than any misplaced sense of competitiveness.
That takes balls, prescience and self-control.
Knowing when to quit makes a grown man.

I wonder if there are cameras in the washrooms as well because apparently everything Conor has ever done is on camera. It's quite amazing.

It was honestly good to see a video of Conor speaking and acting within his right mind, even if this is old…compared to what we’ve seen as of late. That retirement was the ending of Conor’s shot at redemption and also the rematch would’ve been his biggest UFC payday. IMO regardless of what Conor said about not believing he’d stay retired, I think deep down he knew Khabib is a man of his word and wasn’t fighting for himself. He knew that the passing of Abdulmanap did indeed mean that Beeb’s was gone from MMA for good.

You sitting their covered in cheeto dust saying Khabib not a 'real competitor'?

He retired
  • without breaking the LW defence record
  • at 29-0 instead of 30-0
  • without moving up to WW, the weight class he spent half his career in, while repeatedly struggling to stay at LW
He had a fine career. But trying to pretend like he pushed any particular boundaries with what he did is silly. It's why he's not in any serious GOAT talks.

More salt than all the worlds oceans

That’s about the maximum amount of time I can hear that guy talk. Most of the time he’s on film these days he’s acting. And he doesn’t appear to know how ridiculous he looks, and sounds. I’m never watching that documentary unless I do it a couple minutes at a time over the course of a year or two.

That or TUF. Just no thank you. TUF is probably going to be a shit show. I’ll just read the threads once it starts. But I’m not watching that.

Notice how you didn't point out anything I said was incorrect.

Khabib had a chance to push boundaries and make his career special. He chose not to. It is what it is.

Ah, are you the bigot who tried to project your own prejudices on me?

If theres anywhere I feel like we're gonna get some nuanced and thoughtful commentary on the historic tensions between Scottish Presbyterians and Catholics of Irish immigrant stock then its gonna be Sherdog forsure.
