McGregor has to cut 28lbs from now!!!!

maxresdefault.jpg

shouldnt be a problem for this guy. relax guys

He will make it, but its a lot to do. It may affect him during the fight

1. Its chael
2. He has 8 days according to the article
3. According to McGregor himself he weighs 170 normally so you could type he had 120 days to lose 28 pounds and still be right

He can probably naturally slim down another 5lbs just by dieting, and dehydrate the rest a few days before the fight. It's still an extreme weight cut, but let's not fool ourselves, that is very much the norm at the top of any division that isn't heavyweight.

Anything he cuts a week out from the fight is gonna be 100% moisture, no?

Conor did look drained before his fight with Siver. With the IV ban I can't imagine him continuing to fight this way. Still cool since he's gonna go to 155, but too bad he may not fight all the top guys at 145.

What does Chael get by lying about it? If anything, with the new IV rule and some attention on weight-cutting I don't think fighters or someone interviewing them would go out of their way to pump up the number. The guy obviously cuts a ton of weight. Just looking at him at weigh-ins is enough to know he's at the high-end of the weight-cutters. I really don't know how this became a story about Chaels' credibility but it sounds about right.

What does Chael get from it?? Well... a story.

Don't be naive. "UFC Fighter cutting standard amount of weight" is not a story. "Conor cutting 28lbs in 10 days!!!!" (or whatever) is a story.

Chael thrives on this type of bait. It doesn't prove that he is exaggerating but the incentive to do so is obvious.

I doubt anyone is arguing that Conor doesn't cut a bunch of weight. The exact amount... none of us know.

lol at you guys believing this

You guys are being too naive.

For him to cut 28lb he would have to be 173lb right now. He said he was 173 during the World Tour before the training camp and he's clearly much skinnier and leaner right now.

I would say he has to cut about 15lb this week.

Exactly, people eating up this rubbish lol

I like how Skeletor is telling other fighters they're too small for featherweight. Conor just another one of those guys cutting as much weight as possible to avoid his proper weight class. Once he moves up to 155 after failing to achieve the belt at 145, he'll be a nobody lost in the mix.

Apparently Conor is making the weight better than he did against Siver. John Kavanagh says his weight is lower than it was at the same point during the Siver camp.

It's not 27 pounds. He doesn't actually weigh 172 (unless that's his morning weight which I seriously doubt). With no water cutting my weight can be 80.3 kilos one morning and 86 at dinner a few days of heavy eating later (177 to 190). I could claim "I'm walking around at 190, though if I was started cutting water (and ridding myself of all that food and glycogen) I'm really only 175is. I could thus be walking around at 190 a week before making the cut to 155 (which would be 20 pounds of water down from 175).

Connor probably weighs max 170 empty stomach and bladder so once he's cutting water he has max 25 pounds which is a big cut but done by other FW's like jeremy Stevens (and he must have a huge cut judging by his strange form at weigh ins).

This is a modern day WW sized non fighter (lean 190 pounder) cutting 20 pounds in his first ever attempt. See how his strength only partly suffers from the cut. Connor isn't as big as Nate green but is an experienced cutter so the extra 5 pounds wouldn't break the bank with him.

Holy shit that can't be good to your body in the long run. He needs to move up ASAP.
