He's always made it in the past. I think he'll be fine.
That weight cut is exactly why he's big brothering the entire division right now. Mendes is already small, and fighting on short notice, so you don't really need a crystal ball for this one.
The only prayer people have is Conor having terrible take down defense.
consider the source. Conor has no reason to give precise numbers. Chael is not a reliable source.
So... it could be true. Or it might not be. In any case, I won't be getting caught up with the 28 lbs specifically.
I am sure that Conor will be cutting a shitload of weight, whatever his exact weight was a a week ago.

It's almost as if he's in two places at once...
...
Genius
He can probably naturally slim down another 5lbs just by dieting, and dehydrate the rest a few days before the fight. It's still an extreme weight cut, but let's not fool ourselves, that is very much the norm at the top of any division that isn't heavyweight.
The way he looked for the Siver fight was startling. Like a "how can he possible be 100% in 24 hours in this condition" kind of weight cut. He seems to know what he's doing, but I feel like he's really struggling harder and harder with each cut.

no shit, those extreme cuts damage your organs long term.

Yup. Look at the trouble Rumble went to to try and make 170, and what it eventually did to him. Cormier did his insides a mischief back in his wrestling days too.
