McGregor has to cut 28lbs from now!!!!

consider the source. Conor has no reason to give precise numbers. Chael is not a reliable source.

So... it could be true. Or it might not be. In any case, I won't be getting caught up with the 28 lbs specifically.

I am sure that Conor will be cutting a shitload of weight, whatever his exact weight was a a week ago.

That weight cut is exactly why he's big brothering the entire division right now. Mendes is already small, and fighting on short notice, so you don't really need a crystal ball for this one.

The only prayer people have is Conor having terrible take down defense.

He hasn't fought Aldo, Frankie, Mendes, or Lamas yet

He hasn't done anything to an entire division

He is beating less talented guys that he has a size and reach advantage over. Save your shit about people only having a prayer when he has fought some of them. Each one has a very unique style and all four are extremely good. It wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't get through the first one. Why do you think he was already talking about moving up if he beat Aldo? I doubt he can even make this weight cut four more times. And why do you think the guy has suddenly gone mute about Mendes? He had all sorts of things to say before. I know because his more annoying fans regurgitate anything he says for like a year. Let's see him last against a guy good enough to stay in there and push the pace and make him work (even on incredibly short short notice) and give Conor's balls some room to breath for a few days. This fight is hardly in the bag.

Conor has never missed weight
He's not going to do it before the biggest fight of his career

What does Chael get by lying about it? If anything, with the new IV rule and some attention on weight-cutting I don't think fighters or someone interviewing them would go out of their way to pump up the number. The guy obviously cuts a ton of weight. Just looking at him at weigh-ins is enough to know he's at the high-end of the weight-cutters. I really don't know how this became a story about Chaels' credibility but it sounds about right.

He's always made it in the past. I think he'll be fine.
I agree

I would put the odds of him making weight at about 20 to 1

The story here imo is simply what effect will it have on the fight and how much the cut is. Him making it isn't going to be the issue unless something completely unforeseen happens.

It's almost as if he's in two places at once...

He can probably naturally slim down another 5lbs just by dieting, and dehydrate the rest a few days before the fight. It's still an extreme weight cut, but let's not fool ourselves, that is very much the norm at the top of any division that isn't heavyweight.

No it's not the norm especially for anyone under 170. Even at WW it's far over the norm.

The way he looked for the Siver fight was startling. Like a "how can he possible be 100% in 24 hours in this condition" kind of weight cut. He seems to know what he's doing, but I feel like he's really struggling harder and harder with each cut.

no shit, those extreme cuts damage your organs long term.

lol at you guys believing this

You guys are being too naive.

For him to cut 28lb he would have to be 173lb right now. He said he was 173 during the World Tour before the training camp and he's clearly much skinnier and leaner right now.

I would say he has to cut about 15lb this week.

Yes, it's just a matter of time... So far he looks like he handles it very well.

Yup. Look at the trouble Rumble went to to try and make 170, and what it eventually did to him. Cormier did his insides a mischief back in his wrestling days too.

Forget making it. He will.

If Chad can land two good takedown and make him work for a minute Conor will gas so hard

cormier tried to cut tons of weight cause he had a horrible diet

rumble is doing fine, so these long term damage to organs seems to be just assumption of yours
