*** 'McGregor Forever' - Netflix Documentary Discussion Mega Thread ***

Conor could still be an elite LW with the right mindset. He needs to drop the aggressive walk down approach and go back to being a pressure based counter striker.

its rare in these times that someone actually follows through on what they have said. even moreso in combat sports - how many have gone on too long and taken hard losses they shouldnt have? Khabib committed himself to his plan and so far has followed through with it. is it too early for us, the fans? fuck yeah, i wanted to see how far he could go. i think he couldve easily made 3-4 more defenses. but only one man can decide when Khabib is done, and thats Khabib himself.

It's actually a woman who can decide when Khabib is done.

Observing karma. Big stage means no hiding. Rewards come with risks. Kudos to every fighter for getting in that cage. Bigger kudos to karma for shaping us all.

There is no such thing as karma. It's just a child make-believe theory to make people feel better so they can ignore how brutal life truly is.

Nothing sweet like retroactive Conor fanboy excuses.

You think Conor's the only guy to ever go into a fight injured?

yes, and he’s an American hero for doing so.
Khabib is lucky, and retired to avoid the slaughtering conor would have done in the rematch

Can't believe Conor took the fight to Khabib like that considering he basically only had on foot. Incredible.

I agree, a true patriot and top 3 human being

it’s an honor to have been alive during his reign

Oh thanks for the newsflash. I think you sound like *precisely* the guy who I want to take direction from. Ideally on metaphysical subject matters. Please tell me what else to believe about life that can't be proven or disproven. I want to be more like you, TheBulge. That means more to me than having my own world view. Send me your notes pls.

He didn't do that bad to be fair. I'd say it was the second best performance amongst Khabibs opponents in the UFC after Tibau. Maybe tied with RDA. He cheated a lot though and was about to get kimura'ed after getting continously obliterated in 2nd round but did illegal knee thing to save himself (would be one of the worst performances then).
Agree.
I thought it was impressive of Conor to come back to win the third round (after that 8-10 second round)
Especially since many said assumed Conor would be useless after the first round.

too scared to lose?

he fought everyone dana put in front of him lol. I remember all the talk about how Oliveira / Chandler were the guys that would take it to him lmao. Now everyone is on the volk train because he won 20 seconds of a 25 minute fight.

All his bravado is bullshit
This was the man's real feelings of the fight. He done everything possible yet he wasn't close

Deep down he knows the levels and so do you fanboys

He was prepared and one shot of whiskey means nothing. That dude shut himself off from the world for months and flew in wrestlers to prepare

He fucking hated khabib, so you really think he was going to half ass prepare? Lol

He trained harder than ever and got his soul taken

There is no "karma" buddy. It's a made up thing to help you sleep better at night. Most bad people live good lives and go out peacefully. Most good people receive tragedy in life and go out in pain.

As far as my advice? Accepting reality will make you tougher instead of trying to hide behind fantasies.

There's a lot of stuff to shit on Conor for, but getting upset about losing isn't it, any serious competitor in any sport is going to be frustrated and probably get emotional when they're backstage or alone because of how much work went into what they were there for. You're disconnected from it because as a fan, you only tune in and watch a 15-25 minute fight, where as these guys might've been preparing their whole lives for one moment, or been training for a certain opponent for years, in camp for months away from their family. To be so all-in and invested and then to have all your plans and dreams go sideways is upsetting regardless of what field you're in.

At the end of the day, khabib was too afraid of losing.

retired in his prime and never really cemented his legacy as one of the best.

If he had defended a few more times and moved up for another title, he might be spoken about in the same reverence as a fedor or even anderson silva. Sadly no.

Facts.

But you're a brave lad for posting this here, lol - too many fanatics here.

So.. what, people want to think the fight was actually a NC then since Conor was injured going into it? I'll bet Khabib had some random injury too but didn't complain about it (and wouldn't have if he lost either) because he's an honorable competitor, not and excuse maker.

Are we gonna ignore the fact that Conor watched that fight in complete darkness?
