Is Conor McGregor a paper champ? He didn't beat Aldo to get his belt similarly to DC who beat another contender (but not the true champ) to win it.

No, he's the interim champ. Aldo still has his belt and is recognized as a the FW champ, this is a different case than Cormier.

Conor is the Interim champ. He does not have the official title of "Undisputed" like DC does. If he did then yes, he would be considered a paper champ.

It's Aldo's fault the Interim belt exists in the first place.

Unlike DC, conor wasn't soundly beaten by the champ. Aldo pussied out, and claimed injury. (bruised rib) While conor beat a guy within 2 rounds, that took aldo WW3 to beat him.

In Aldo's defense it would have been very foolish for him to take the fight with bruised ribs. Conor would have eaten him alive.
