Why was he not warning about the strikes to the back of the head Cormier was dishing out? These are actual fouls, not perceived ones.

I didn't see that fight but bear in mind that if the strike lands even partially on the side of the head it's technically legal

Because that's how he rolls.

Are you serious?

He kept turning so that only the back of his head was exposed.

It's a fucking shit rule anyway

Go rewatch the fight. big john did tell him to watch the back of the head a couple times. Not nearly as much as most other refs but cormier was told.

He gave warnings without stopping the fight. I do agree that Cormier got away with too many in the back of the head. I think he should have stopped the fight, given an official warning, and restarted then on their feet at some point.

It wouldn't have changed a thing about the outcome, but that isn't relevant.

Would you rather have it allowed? Punches to the back of the head? I can't believe you're that stupid.

He was warned. But the majority he threw were clipping the back of the ear, which renders them perfectly legal.

yeah it was pretty weird. i remember two or three consecutive blows that Staring wasn't 'turning into'.

Hate seeing that shit.

Blind people are blind.

hey, that formula where people say things like "obvious troll is obvious" is for fucking nerds. quit it. it's not funny and it's just flat out annoying. be original you hack.

maybe he shouldn't turn his head inwards if he doesn't want to get blasted in the back of the head. ;)

I know many think Mcarthy is a paragon of virtue and a godsend stickler for the rules, even ones he evidently invents on the fly. I figure those fellow lovers of rules should be out in full force to chastise him for allowing a dangerous situation to occur. Unless, of course those people are hypocrites and are only for seeing 'certain' fighters who aren't actually breaking any rules get called out?

If you're facedown on the canvas and the only way you can protect yourself is turning your head so that your opponent hit you in the back of your head, the ref should stop the fight because I don't see that as an inteligent way to protect yourself.

Interesting take.

Big John is one of the best refs and he still takes many suspect decisions. The refs stop a fight for a glancing blow to the balls, but give a warning for a crushing blow to the back of the head.
