there isnt aside from being a size bully and fighting against smaller 125 girls. and even then, the little red headed girl she fought (cant remember her name) was tagging up on the feet and maycee just bullied her to the fence and got a crappy standing TKO. a lot of the shots she threw were hitting shoulder or being blocked if i remember

thats all she knows how to do, use her strength to push girls to the fence and then start teeing off. very one dimensional

It's efficient though. It worked for the most part in her career and in many of her UFC fights. It may also work again in this fight...
 
Well if "the future" looses again. She can go back to fort collins and teach BJJ pretending to be a black belt while being a blue belt like she did before the UFC...smh

It's not necessarily beneficial to compete in another combat sport. Why go through that if the goal is MMA? Barber is only 22 and has a lot of growing to do. The whole becoming champion at a young age thing was always foolish talk. She's got raw talent but she needs years of experience to reach an elite level.

That’s not what I said. I was responding to someone who said that Ronda had a shitty attitude and was plenty successful. Ronda never learned MMA. She was just really good at
Judo. The path Barber is going on, she has to learn MMA really well. And her attitude is going to stop her from doing that.
 
Maverick is legit, she's obviously extremely green, but she has physical and athletic gifts. Barber got dropped on the feet by Roxy. You do the math

From what I've seen she's putting in the work and listening to her coaches. That's more important than what she says in front of a microphone.

I don't know if Ronda's problem was her attitude so much as her coach gassing her up and making her think she's invincible.

She seems very dedicated to her craft. Takes her training very seriously. Yea she talks too much and is overly ambitious but personally I don’t she what about her attitude is holding her back.
 
Very winnable fight for Maycee. Maverick comes forward. Maycee almost needs that from her opponent as we all saw how bad Maycee is at distance.
 
I wish there is JBG approved levels of violence by Maverick in this fight. Quite happy that UFC didn't try to weasel in a winnable fight for Barber to end her streak :)

In a way, this is actually a good match up for Maverick, rankings wise. That division isn't very deep at all, and Maycee has a bit of a name to herself. A win for Maverick here does more for her name than some of the other girls higher up the rankings, especially if she manages to dominate. The division being thin means there's lots of chances for girls to leapfrog right to the top with the right performance.

That said, my initial read is that Barber takes this one. People seem to think she has nothing to offer because she lost to a vet like Roxy and Grasso (who is great herself). That's crazy thinking.

Grasso is great at distance control and counter strikes. That's why Maycee lost to her. That doesn't mean that Maverick can do the same, because she can't and doesn't fight that way at all. Also, Maycee had Grasso figured out in the third round. I wouldn't expect Maycee to rematch Grasso and lose unless she's some sort of moron who doesn't learn from the most obvious mistakes.

Also, Maycee did fine considering Grasso is a great fighter, and lets not forget she was coming off a long lay off.

If they stand and bang, which is what Maycee will be forcing the striking exchanges towards, I don't see Maverick having much success there. I could easily see Maycee bullying her, hurting her, and finishing her.

If it goes to the ground, I'm not sure if I like Maverick's chances there much either. She was athletic enough to outwork Gillian once Gillian started to fade, but even then, she was neither good enough or explosive enough to stop Gill from controlling her for almost an entire round. Maverick could snap up an armbar from the bottom or something, but she's never really subbed any decent girls in their prime. It will be a lot harder with a bull like Maycee on top of her, using her strength and doing GNP.

It's an interesting fight because both girls are young and still improving rapidly, Maverick especially. I mean, the Maverick that beat Gillian would destroy the Maverick that fought back in Invicta.
