Max vs Topuria could end up being pretty ugly

I agree although I don't imagine people think highly of this version of KZ.

KZ was still moving well in thst fight and still throwing bombs. Yeah KZ wasn’t in his peak in thst fight, but he also wasn’t completely washed like Tony is or cowboy was at his end.

also I still think right now KZ beats some of the guys between 10 and 15 in FW rankings.

Great step up for Topuria and a great potential road back to contendership for Holloway. I think I'm going to go with Max in this one. He's got the ability to overwhelm Topuria with his volume. Topuria hasn't seen anything like Max in hi career yet. When all else fails go with the tried and true.

Look, I love Max Holloway, he’s an absolute monster of a fighter and a pretty solid dude too. But we know how he fights and he has a lot of miles on his body. Usually what happens to those types of fighters is once they get older they tend to be on the receiving end of one or more hellacious beatings.

Of course, this isn’t the first time anyone has uttered this and it’s happened multiple times that Max will then proceed to just style on dudes, but I have a feeling Topuria might be able to dish out one of those hellacious beatings on Max. This is a very interesting fight.

what do you think about this matchup?

In a vacuum, it's a great fight. In the present FW division, it's yet another chance to stall things by having Holloway beat a new contender. Of course, Topuria could pull off a DDP-Whittaker upset, and that's why I'll tune in.

Yes, unfortunately.

But there is no reason to do Max v Tuporia. Volk will be ready to fight at UFC 297, the man is a machine. Win, lose, or draw against Islam, Volk will dispatch Tuporia on the set date.

But in the event Volk pulls it off, the UFC has to do an immediate rematch because they can't seem to ever not do that.

Yeah this could be the fight where Max takes a career altering beating. Or it could be the fight where Topuria gets derailed and we end up with no legit contender except Max. Either scenario would suck. I guess best case scenario is Topuria wins and Holloway doesn't take too bad a beating. I don't like this fight at all.

I know he's been there forever and have that old dude aura, but honestly, i think Max is in his prime, and he probably Will only get better at least at his 35

Max is a weird one. He started out as a kickboxer but he doesn't really check kicks. Volk chewed his leg up in their fights. Max just doesn't check them well.

He leanrn't to fight off the UFC video games and punching on in an MMA gym.

He wasn't a kickboxer, he just likes to punch on and is rather good at boxing with a great chin and gas tank.

MAx went to decision with DP for the interim belt and had moments in that fight and still wasn't dropped once.
Topuria nearly got bodied by Jai Herbert. He came back to win by a devastating KO, but I think Max gets it done, similar to the Aldo fights.

Anything can happen, but Topuria got nothing on Max. He will likely get out boxed and out worked. I rather see Topuria fight someone like Allen or Yair or just give him to Volk if he loses to Makhachev. If only Max would have beaten Dustin. Maybe, just maybe he would have gone up to LW. There’s definitely a sense that Max’s time as more or less invincible on the feet has to be coming to an end sooner than later. But idk man, Max seems to do really well against guys with conventional boxing offense like Kattar and Allen, so I’m not sure Ilia has the tools to consistently get to Max, but he’s got equalizing, single-shot power and can def test how much more Max can take, just my thoughts

Truly a great fight, but what if Max wins? Does anyone want to see him fight Volk again?

I mean we all know how great Volk is by now, and part of the proof is Max beating up all of the other contenders after he loses to Volk.

It's sort of like when Cain and JDS ruled HW for a bit, they were #1 and #2 and daylight third

Max didn’t really take THAT much damage, the only fight where he got wobbled pretty seriously was against Poirier but he improved since then. People said the same about him vs Kattar and look how that turned out.
