Max has a great chance of beating Oliveria at LW again and becoming a champ.. dudes has a great TDD, so theres no way he'll get taken down, and will put a Brian Ortega type of beatdown on Olivera

I agree. People are gonna bring up him being outsized vs Poirier but that narrative is overblown imo. They probably weighed the exact same based on their walk around numbers. I think with some adjustments he could beat Poirier. He would do great at lw and he can ease his weightcuts.

Max did outbox him, because of his way better footwork and boxing in their fight. I give you that.
But it only went 90 seconds and Oliveira got injured without real impact after 90 seconds.

On the other side, Olive has an 5 inch reach advantage and some power nowadays. While Max last attempt at 155 didn't go too well.

Doesn't matter. If Poirier wins, he gets the title fight he deserves. If Conor wins the UFC will love it and give him a title fight.

Not much to say...completely agree. And Max dismantled Chandler too.

Certainly be interesting if Max goes up and wins the belt. A trilogy fight with Volk with the 155 pound belt on the line would be worth watching.

Max is not built for lightweight. He’s scrowny, doesn’t hit particularly hard and blocks punches with his face. Insane cardio and output won’t do the job, it’s just not enough.

He should dedicate at least a year to building muscle and learn how to keep his hands up.

I think he should stay there a little bit longer, especially if Ortega becomes champ and have one defence. After that 155 is probably inevitable, he's huge and would have lucrative matchup at the top there. Yes, he had a pretty bad loss against Dustin but then again he survived the same 5 round onslaught that finished guys like Justin, McGregor, Alvarez, Pettis list goes on. He lost because Dustin was better, not bigger.

he is a soft puncher at FW, imagine as a LW. At FW he has huge reach advantage so he can touch and move, at LW not so much. Guys would just eat his punches to land theirs and theirs would have more impact.

Nah, he lost to both Poirier and Conor. No guarantee that he would not lose again. And he never even face Justin. Too many killers. Oliveira may not be the champ by the time Max actually gets a shot. Also at lightweight his punches had barely any effect on Poirier, Hooker was actually a tougher fight for him.

On the other hand, he arguably beat Volk in the rematch and that is his only challenge there

Max needs ease on sweets and bulk up properly.

Also, his crazy cut to 145 hurts his performance.

I think you guys calling for Max at 155 are nuts. It's obvious his best weight class is at FW. He's so good he would do well at 155 but he's an all-time great at FW. Don't change what's working.

Are you one of the many sherdoggers that thought Kattar would give Max a boxing clinic?

He pretty much beat Volk in the rematch. Comes down to if he ever gets a 3rd fight with him. If he does there is the reclaiming of the belt and revenge part. And it sounds Dana's open to it.

If not then LW has a path to a title shot. But, not now. The div is wide open. Lots of contenders, who would (or should) be in line before Max. The Poirier LW fight was pretty one-sided and a underwhelming performance. It could be Max is too weak for LW, better suited for FW. But it's just 1 fight, not that definitive.

Max would need to make the proper move in weight first, the man was underpowered at LW, or at least was against a killer like Poirier.

Its probably not worth watching at 145 and you want to give that point fighter the chance of a another controversial SD win? The better for the fans is Volk and Max never fight again.

when did he have a bad performance at 145?

He was looking really unhealthy during weight ins... looked like he could beat Volk, but lacked speed and explosive power to do it...
He is still young man who is growing
