News Max Holloway debuts as #9 Ranked Lightweight

I think that's appropriate because it's more conservative and realistic. For example, in your opinion Max should be #3 because he beat #4 Gaethje..... But he lost to #5 Poirier. So what do you do about that? I don't think beating someone in the rankings like that automatically puts you above them when the sample size is so small. We need more points of data to determine his true rank because right now he's .500 at lightweight which doesn't exactly warrant a #3 spot.

Max lost to Poirier 5 years ago, it's irrelevant to the rankings today. Max dominated and KO'd the guy who KO'd Poirier not that long ago, he should definitely be ranked above both of them.

Max also beat Oliveira many years ago.

Shouldn't he be number 2 3 or 4 at least
He just beat the number 1 contender at lw in a title eliminator fight.. makes no sense

Also but even if you somehow did want to hold it against Max he's clearly a lot better of a striker nowadays than back then, especially in the power department. Which was the reason he lost last time. Meanwhile Poirier's only gotten older and more war torn. I don't think many would actually pick Poirier in a hypothetical trilogy.

So I'm not sure why he'd deserve to still be ahead of Max when Max just dominated the guy who recently beat him and probably wins a current fight. The rankings seem pretty easy to figure out of #1 Arman, #2 Charles, #3 Max, #4 Justin, #5 Dustin.
