Silva is famous for beating guys that don't matter and getting torched when he matches up with someone you know. Fitch, Dong and now Brown all ran him over. It doesn't mean what you would like it to mean.

TS is right in the sense that Brown hasn't gotten a marquee win yet over a top 10 opponent but I don't think he can be blamed - he was matched up with Condit and injury derailed the fight. You can only judge him based on the guys they've given him.

Personally I haven't forgotten him getting tapped out left in right - he literally got submitted in 4 of 5 fights at one point. He went on a run when he started fighting lesser men. I think there is no doubt he is much improved and his tenacity carries him a long way - we won't know where he stands until he gets a top 10 opponent.

I have no problem with Brown saying he's the best WW in the world - you need to have that kind of belief in yourself to be successful in this business. It's a little wonky seeing him in the top 5 without any top 10 wins, but its basically awarded on quantity not quality in his case.

Either way, his next fight is most certainly someone highly ranked and we will find out.
 
He is a very generic brawler...I don't see him beating any of the top dogs of the division.

I agree I too think Weidman still needs to prove himself . He fame is over two fluke wins(well one Matt Serra win) so he should get exposed soon. Wait are we talking about the same people?

Matt Brown deserves a contender fight, I can't fathom how anyone would argue that especially since there isn't a legit contender at WW. Who's on the streak he's on? Trying to discredit his wins is a joke to, fact is the dude comes out and finishes fights he's won 7 in a row! He got his liver kicked in last night and not only did he survive he came back to put on a great performance. I'd love seeing Matt Brown get a contender shot and it's well deserved

I can see him beating Maia, and I'd give him a slight edge against Woodley and Ellenberger, but that's it. He's probably most accurately described as the Chiek Kongo of WW.
