Everyone who has fought a long time in the UFC is called a "legend".
If you have more than 10 fights in the UFC you're considered a legend
Definitely some weird trend I've noticed.
Both Baeza and Felder referred to Brown as a “legend” post-fight??
Perhaps this word is being thrown around too freely these days...
If any of you agree that Matt “17 losses” Brown is a legend, please enlighten everyone as to why...
This is simply untrue. Legend does not equal P4P GOAT. You are trying to make legend mean that when it simply doesn't.Nah, Fuck that. Legend, GOAT, P4P. This shit has been permanently tainted because mafackas use it too fucking freely. Legend applies to fighters like: Fedor, Big Nog, Anderson Silva, GSP, Shogun. Maybe a few others. These guys are legends because we’re going to keep talking about them for a long time after their career is over. Don’t come around calling just anyone a fucking legend because you pc left-wing progressive snowflakes wanna include everyone, save that participation award shit for elementary track-and-field. There are very few legends in EVERY sport, this is what makes them outliers/special athletes. /rant
Not everything in the world connects to political ideologies
i think legend applies to people whose career will be referenced long after they have retired. I don’t think Matt brown fits that criteria, that’s all. I put GOAT and P4P in there too because I think they are used far too often, like legend. This is simply untrue. Legend does not equal P4P GOAT. And other sports have plenty of legends who aren't in the GOAT discussion. Take NBA basketball for example. I don't know if are familiar at all but if you are then you should know.
Do you follow NBA basketball??? If so do you consider Mugsy Bogues a legend? He certainly is not an all time GOAT.i think legend applies to people whose career will be referenced long after they have retired. I don’t think Matt brown fits that criteria, that’s all. Exactly....so then Chris Leben, Yushin Okami, Tim Boetsch and Michael Chiesa...all legends...If you have more than 10 fights in the UFC you're considered a legend

Matt brown arlovski. Rothwell g Nelson guida even cowbo . All those type..are simply VETERANS of the sport"Legend" does get thrown around too much, but honestly it kind of makes sense. You have to have some term for people who have been around for a really long time and had some success. To put it into perspective, I just looked it up and Brown has been in the UFC, and only the UFC since 2008 just under 12 years, and in that time he's had 26 fights. Including one good win streak that got him all the way up to fighting elite competition in the division.
I don't know if legend is the right word necessarily, but you gotta call guys like him/diego etc something to differentiate them from the rest.
The fact that you put Arlovski and Clay fucking Guida in the same category tells me you have no idea what you're talking about.Matt brown arlovski. Rothwell g Nelson guida even cowbo . All those type..are simply VETERANS of the sport
The fact that you think Matt Brown is a legend tells everybody that you have no idea wtf you are taking about. The fact that you put Arlovski and Clay fucking Guida in the same category tells me you have no idea what you're talking about.
Really? Will we TRULY remember these mediocre journeymen 10 years after they retire? No. No 30 for 30 documentary will be made on them. Legends are men that made history, not the ones who were just along for the ride.I have no problem with it.
I think "legend" is different than elite or great. Matt Brown is a career journeyman. So are Diego Sanchez, Cowboy Cerrone, and guys before them like Chris Lytle, Mark Hunt etc. But they are legendary in the sense that they are well remembered beyond their time. All guys respected beyond what their records say.
Brown is a very beatable guy and always has been. He could also knock you the fuck out in a very memorable way. Baeza schooled him, but probably won't ever remember much of the fight.
