Jorge can defend well against a grappler and can hold his own against a striker. He gets blown out by a person who can do both -- which is what Burns is
Neither Burns nor Usman are strikers. They have a lot of power and decent basics but that's about it. That power could be the equalizer if Masvidal's chin is declining though.
Yeah Burns is rightfully the favorite but Jorge is no walk-over and stylistically it's a pretty solid fight. One of the more interesting fights coming up.
They both have decently technical striking and do not rely on grappling to the level of a Maia does. Colby wouldnt be classified as a striker either and he beat Mas in standing scoring. Usman flatlined Mas on the feet. Mas is cant deal with well rounded fighter.
We literally watched him fight 2 months ago and he looked amazingAgreed. The -500 odds are really high. Burns is no young buck. He's 36 and has been in 26 fights. He also recently had some wars with Khamzat and Usman that's gonna accelerate the deterioration of his body.

First round wins are impressive but they don't tell us much about how the fighter would perform if he were actually pushed. That fight in a nutshell: Burns doing nothing on the feet for the first two minutes, then easy TD, grappling domination and finish.
On the feet, Masvidal outstruck Colby in the first three rounds, even though the space was limited, as Colby was constantly crowding him and forcing him to defend 9 TDs.
5-4
24-19
7-6
Eventually though, the grappling took its toll and Colby was able to touch Jorge up in rd4. The 31-19 score in distance strikes in rd4 is what gave Colby the overall edge standing. But even in that round, Masvidal wobbled Colby hard.
Colby dominated with grappling and won a clear UD, but people (not saying you are one of them) are really drifting off into fantasy land when they claim that Colby 'beat up', 'raped', etc Masvidal that night. It was a pretty boring points win. No one got 'destroyed'.
People are sleeping on Masvidal
Until he loses to a bum, you cant count him out as washed
Also, hes a much better fighter since he grew out his hair, and only lost to the top guys at the time
this. the odds are what they are because the assumption is that masvidal is shot, which he probably is. it would be a huge upset if he wins.Masvidal is on his way down. He isn't much of threat for anyone in the top 5.
Not seeing where Mas won the first 3 rounds standing.
