I thought the writing in 3 was great. Also got to learn about the Reapers creators in a DLC which I also thought was great. The gameplay is definitely the best in 3 and I always go soldier cause the gun play just feels amazing.
It has moments that I really like, but the overall narrative just feels a bit sloppy. The way plot threads from previous games get tied off while dealing with the Reapers comes across as slapdash. Ideally, breaking ME3 into two parts would have been best for me. Part one could have been tying off loose ends to get the Galaxy on board with the threat, and part two could have been the resolution of the conflict itself.

I also don't care for the ending, but I've never liked any ending that dealt with a seemingly insurmountable foe; so that's just something I deal with when consuming science fiction. I enjoy the ride up until the conclusion and don't worry too much about how things end up.

I'm excited to get this remaster as I never played the OG. How does it run on PC?

Sorry if it has been answered I didn't read the thread for fear of spoilers.

I missed it when it came out and been waiting for the remaster.

Runs great on PC and looks fantastic.

Holy shit I've never heard of this guy but his thoughts on the ending for ME3 are something I've been saying for a long ass time. "The last 10 minutes are not the ending!"

And the 3rd entry of the trilogy wasn't very good overall, even before the last 10 minutes.

So 'The entire 3rd game is the ending' is a very shitty excuse and attempt to change the subject from how everything after Shepard gets hit by the beam was bizarre, out of place to the rest of the game, and lead to a fan-made theory how Shepard had been indoctrinated by the Reapers.

The post-release DLCs improved the game, from what I've seen, but overall its a lackluster final entry in one of the greatest game trilogies of all time, especially when compared to the 2nd game.

Let me put it this way - Regardless if you have a PC or Next-Gen Console, this remaster of the ME trilogy is dollar-for-gameplay the newest best deal in gaming right now.

.

I don't really get when people say that. The combat is the same as ME2 but better. I do prefer ME2 squad over ME3 but I don't really see people bringing that up when they say ME3 wasn't good. I suppose people didn't like the plot or something but I didn't find anything really wrong with it and I thought they did the best they could with dealing with the multiple choices and ME2 suicide mission as variables. My opinion might change when I get to replay ME3 but I don't recall disliking the plot/writing or noticing it being any worse than the first two games. I am a hater of the ending and also those annoying af dream sequences but aside from that I thought it was a great game.

I mean I know it's just opinions but I just don't really see how the writing was much worse than the other games. I'll be paying extra attention whenever I get to it.

I agree it's over 100+ hours of gameplay and has aged well. If only they boosted the graphics to current gen that'd be amazing

Agreed, the gameplay was overall better, but 'quality gameplay' is determined by the era a game is released - That's why so many gamers really want there to be remakes of MGS1 and KOTOR because the stories, characters, and world were all awesome, but the gameplay and graphics have aged like milk.

Great gameplay is important, don't get me wrong as far as ME3, but the writing, characters, and world are actually much more important to get many gamers emotionally invested into the game than the gameplay.

I only played through the game once, but this is what I remember - The decision to make the ME1 choices of saving the council and not killing the rachni queen being canon in ME3 - was a very bad move.

The new characters were lame, and all the old characters that weren't in your ME3 squad basically had short cameos. With the exception of Jacob, every ME2 character was far more interesting than every new ME3 character.

Oh, and Javik? The protean DLC squadmate that's the last of his species that's millions of years old? And has a jamaican accent? Give me a fucking break.

The side-missions's narratives were... weak, and that's besides the fact the awards you got to the war economy ended up being irrelevant for the ending.

That said, it wasn't all bad. Mordin, Legion, and Tali's stories were awesome. No complaints there.

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. I got a few things on my plate gaming wise atm but I'll be sure to pick it up when I get a chance. Looking forward to it.

Agreed, it would be.

But I'm satisfied with the upgraded textures, resolution, and FPS for the next-gen consoles and PC.

Not quite sure what you mean here. What I can say is the last time I played ME3 I was very impressed by the gameplay. Especially how the guns felt to use.

I'll need to replay the game to really answer most of the rest of this stuff. I know I enjoyed ME3 a lot last time I played it. Just as much as the other games but actually a bit more because I didn't remember it as much. I've only played it twice now and I've played the other games 4 times each.

I do agree Javik having a Jamaican accent was weird but honestly what kind of accent is an alien species who's never spoken our language supposed to have? Why is Jamaican anymore weird than American, Spanish, Australian, etc.

Played about an hour of ME2 and damn the game does look really good. Looks much better than ME1 and that already looked good.

Finished ME1 yesterday and can't wait to jump into ME2 with the same douchebag renegade Shepard. The ending of ME1 was epic with remastered graphics! My only complain is about enemy AI. It's almost Fallout 3 level.

I've played Mass Effect 1 and 2 way back in the day and enjoyed them quite a bit. Can barely remember anything about them though. Which of the 3 is considered the best? I remember 1 being kinda clunky from a gameplay and movement perspective.

Yeah the AI is not good. Actually in ME2 already I’ve seen Miranda stand there and just die lmao but at the very least it’s easier to control their power and make them hit what you want them to hit

I think ME2 is overall considered the best. Since ME1 plays differently I would say that comes in second when it comes to people’s favorites. I think most would agree ME3 has the best combat of the games but falls short on a narrative level

My personal favorite is ME2. Idk what id pick between ME1 or ME3 but I think ME3 is probably the more fun game to do replays of.

Okay, I might not have brought the best squad, but the
Shepard clone fight on insanity might be the biggest pile of horseshit that I've ever suffered through. I mean, it'll go better if there's a next time, but what an irritating load of nonsense. I died instantly like a thousand times.

I literally stop playing ME3 after I do the Citadel DLC to avoid that whole like last third of the game.

It's the gaming equivalent of season 8 Game of Thrones. Like it was written by someone who has never played the game.
In a way it was, though not as extreme. Drew Karpyshyn was the lead writer for the first two Mass Effect games, until Casey Hudson and Mac Walters became the lead writers for ME3 after EA made him write for the KOTOR MMO.

I still wonder how things would have gone with his proposed Dark Matter ending.

Even The Illusive Man feels significantly dumbed down in ME3 compared to how compelling he was in ME2 and the other novels Drew wrote. The game had so many problems even before the ending, though the Citadel DLC was fun.
