Marvel / Comic book Guys. How powerful is the Silver Surfer? ( COMICS )

Yeah. There was some miniseries in the 2000's where he beats some alien tyrant that stole and absorbed the Captain Universe power then the Surfer absorbed the power into himself and bonded with it briefly before letting it go to a new host. There was also an event in 2021-2022 where the Captain Universe energy/Enigma Force was being blocked from entering the earth due to the god/creator of the symbiotes (Venom, Carnage, etc.) creating a forcefield of living darkness around the Earth so the Surfer bonded with the energies, broke through the barrier then let the energies go to its' intended host in Venom. Comics these days are usually garbage and I've pretty much given up on even keeping up with what's going on in them never mind reading them but that crossover was actually pretty good. Mind you I read what I did on a free comics site so I could keep up with it a bit without needing to buy anything.

I was a big comics collector but lost interest around the Onslaught series for X men.

I think he's supposed to be on par with prime Thor. Maybe slightly above.
They wank the hell out of Thor. Thor at his best form smokes Silver Surfer. They fought a few times already and Thor always won.

I don't mean Thor's most powerful forms, like Odinforce Thor or Rune King Thor. I mean regular Thor in his prime.

I know they've met a few times but I don't know how those turned out so I'll take your word for it. But just based on Surfer's feats, he's shown to be a very powerful dude. I'd say it's not out of the question to put him on Thor's level, even if Thor won their fights.

Normie Thor beat him a few times. Normie Thor might be even faster than him now. I have to double check. Silver Surfer is a weird character. He is super strong but he is written in way where he is always putting over another character.

Silver Surfer is written like Martian Manhunter. MM is supposedly around Superman’s level but he jobs to lesser villains.

I remember when Marvel Series 1 cards came out, reading up on Silver Surfer, I felt so small when all my focus was on the X-Men brand. never knew he was one of the strongest motherfuckers in the game.

Watching the Rise of Silver Surfer. They made the guy a complete bum... Isn't he supposed to be a bad ass? This guy is basically as useless as Hawkeye... I bet the girl who had her arm eaten by a shark can out surf him...

He's Galactus tier.

I'm pretty sure he's on par with The Flash for getting clowned in situations he should absolutely be able to handle.

A somewhat unrelated story

My friends were rewatching the old Justice League cartoons for shits and giggles, and the Martian Manhunter, with how powerful he is, should have been able to bail them out of every situation, but instead the writers didn't know what to do with him and always wrote up some bullshit excuse.

Jon, help us!
"Er, something, something, this planets atmosphere....can't too weak."

Now "Can't, too weak." Is the ongoing meme for when we don't feel like doing something petty.

So many almighty comic book characters suffer from the "Can't, too weak" syndrome.

But they always play up "Surfer holding back" because at heart, he's a pacifist. So with THor he doesnt want to actually harm him because theyre buddies and everything.

Black Panther beat him with a hammerlock.
nobody can beat this guy if you use common sense of his powers but if writter would just come up with lame way to beat him that is other story, but looking at his power and using logic and common sense to make it like reality nobody can beat him

Lmao he is the biggest jobber.

Thats cause its very well known that Surfer doesnt exactly fight to hurt anyone, let alone win. Hes a pacifist. The guy has the power to create life, but if you read most of his comics, youd think Captain America could kick his ass. Thor on the other hand is written to try and smash holes through the heads of Gods. On paper, Surfer has the powers to destroy nearly anyone in the Marvel Universe if they wanted to pen it out like that. We usually only see him utilize maybe a quarter of his powers at best though.

Guy wasn't meant for fighting. He's more like an unwilling Igor to Galactus.
