Mark Smith Telling Sharaf and Tafa to Work was Insane

I thought the refereeing was bad all night. The ref in the first fight basically did an assisted submission by swatting not only his feet of out of fence during the RNC, but also his fingers out of the glove until he's unconscious. I hope the fighter who won that gives ref a part of his win bonus because that was disgusting
Both of those things are against the rules, lmao.

funny how they do that in a mostly standup fight but not when one guy holds the other down for 15 minutes

I despise referees with a small attention span and patience. NOBODY thought that fight was boring or lazy, except the referee apparently

And kudos to both fighters. The Tafa Brothers get a lot of crap but I think there's a place for these exciting fighters, even if this fight was sort of a layup

Mark Smith loves the sound of his own voice and making himself seem more needed/useful.

Your goal as a ref is to be invisible and only interject when absolutely necessary to keep the fight moving.

How was it a layup? Sharaf would have won the fight if the first round was 10 seconds longer.

Look at the rest of the crap on the card though. Casuals look at this fight and think it's just a couple of gasbags winging punches at each other, but it was probably FOTN. I'd rather see these two in the UFC than Argueta or those other midgets on the prelims.
In fairness to Argueta that dude was coming forward the whole fight even though he was losing. Hard not to respect a guy who was behind the whole fight, and was doing everything in his power to pull out a win.

He's always losing though.

Context matters. Sherraf was making his ufc debut at 3-0. Who does that?
Uhh... these guys?

This was the most entertaining fight of the night for me. I get the feeling a lot of people have no idea wtf they're looking at when they diss heavyweights like that. Is there a reason the typical super-omega-ultra skilled 170 pounder doesn't save himself the hassle of cutting 30 pounds during his fat camp and just put on 10 pounds and fight at HW instead?

Cory Mckenna (she's hot and I had never seen her fight, was not disappointed. Great spirit), Iron Turtle fight, first 3 rounds of the main event. All I really cared about watching, plus this fight. I would say it delivered.

It takes some real balls to stand and trade bombs the way those two did in that fight. that was an entertaining fight between two full sized men. also anybody that has ever even sparred with full heavyweight sized men knows that they tend to be deceptively explosive and athletic especially when they are fresh; fat just covers up a lot of functional muscle. yeah the cardio could of been better but both accepted the fight practically last minute and still traded bombs with each other.

Look at the rest of the crap on the card though. Casuals look at this fight and think it's just a couple of gasbags winging punches at each other, but it was probably FOTN. I'd rather see these two in the UFC than Argueta or those other midgets on the prelims.

and this fight happened right after a pillow fisted wmma fight and a nearly equally pillow fisted bantamweight fight.

what makes heavyweight mma so entertaining is the stakes of it: when Tafa and Sharaf squared up at the beginning I fully expected one of them to potentially drop the other with every exchange. can the same be said about most fights in the lower weight classes? of course not. people might not like it but that bantamweight "men's fight" was closer to the wmma fight in intensity and stakes at risk, than the heavyweight fight. fucking pathetic showing for the bantamweights and yet sherdoggers will praise that

it where is the notion coming from that Tafa and Sharaf are not skilled fighters? they are definitely skilled strikers especially Tafa. again: cardio could be better. but the striking skill and balls to stand and trade with another man throwing bombs was there. Neither fighter ran and that is uncommon. and yet sherdoggers are calling that fight "trash". no that was fight of the night lads

Sorry but I'm not gonna go back and watch a shitty decision between two bottom tier heavyweights so I can't weigh in on this thread.
