Hunt's one dimensional offense and lack of dual pressure (striking/takedown) will give Lesnar enough offensive freedom to score a creative takedown despite his lack of a striking game. Too many people are forgetting about Hunt's lack of a dual threat offense creating crazy pressure... That's why the best have always been those who can go in for the takedown, and strike. Velasquez exposed Brock is this regard. I'm not sure if Hunt can provide the same pressure to keep Brock on his back feet, and not finding crafty ways to take him down.

Brock needs an early takedown. If he feels hunts power he will panic and become very hesitant to throw any strikes imo.

shittiest analysis yet

Back to RAW and Smackdown you go

It's no surprise why Hunt is 12-10

His only weapon is his Knockout power, and his one dimensional offense gets exposed by the cream of the crop. Got to have that striking and takedown dual threat ability... It's the ultimate pressure on someone's defense.

I believe Lesnar will be able to move around quite freely, with less pressure due to a no takedown threat, and a substantial athletic/length/size advantage. The only threat is Hunt's Knockout striking power, but I feel like Brock will be able to float around and pick his shoots well.

Pick his shots? The only shot Brock can do is for a takedown or he's done.

Yeah and he can pick when and where to go for the takedown. There's absolutely no threat of being taken down, so he's got more freedom to get creative.

Except Hunt has pretty damn good TDD.

That's why Overeem should've gotten this fight, he could've easily beat Lesnar and continue his preparation for Miocic.

It's not that easy when Mark Hunt is stalking him. He's also usually very patient now, really improved defending this type of stuff.

Ya Hunt certainly is one dimensional. The reason to pick Hunt in this fight is the fact that he has been fighting non stop for a while now and Brock should be rusty but there are more ways for Brock to win this than there is for Hunt.

Hunt is pretty slow while Lesnar is very fast and agile for his size. Also, Lesnar has quite a large height and reach advantage.

Is Josh Barnett healthy and ready if Hunto gets hurt?

I would have liked that match. Would have been better than either Frank Mir fight,

Brocks non existing striking makes Hunt only think about TDD, plus Hunt is way shorter, its hard to blast under someone when you have 6 inches on em, he gonna be eating uppercuts

Is it NOT like Overeen didn't make Mark tap out within 15 seconds of this gif? No great "technical" armbar or leglock submission, just a pure power submission. Mark was NOT strong enough to resist getting tapped as Kimura's and Amerikana's can and do get "powered out of".

Huge, huge fan of Hunt. This really depends on which Hunt comes in. If he comes in out of shape and gasses on the way into the octagon, he's in for a world of hurt.

Still, Brock's long layoff vs Hunt's recent octagon experience has got to have him the rightful favorite in most people's minds.

It's a 2 way street, is what my point is. Brock can get creative with his wrestling and takedowns just like a striker can too. Hopefully Brock brings more than the double leg to the table.. I'd like to see some sweet level changes to single leg takedowns/ankle picks
