I think Herb Dean is just bought, he refs perfectly fine when he's over in ONE Championship. He's a great ref over there and I don't remember any mistakes or bad calls, but he somehow manages to fuck up at least once on every UFC card.

As for Goddard, I've never liked him since he stops fights too early and he's inconsistent with his clinch separations. Sometime he yells at them for no reason when they're trying to work in the clinch, other times he lets them hug on the fence for a full round. I rank him somewhere around UFC Herb Dean.

I can agree with this.
 
Rosenthal back in the day and Herzog GOAT refs in my opinion but I think Goddard is probably better than many of the current crop. He's had his missteps like everyone else.

I also remember when he and Conor almost got into it.

Seemed like a vintage "Hold me back. Hold me back" situation.



Goddard looked more confused than anything else.

What did he do to shit the bed(octagon) now? And have some other examples of being a crappy ref?

Every one of those stoppages you listed were good stoppages.

The consensus seems to be that he's a dick for stopping fights while the losing fighter still has a pulse.

Maybe somebody remembers which fight. It was a card in London.

1. Absolutely full of himself, so correct.
2. One of the ‘better’ referees that we see on a regular basis - yes, in my opinion.

What brought this on? What did I miss?
