Finished prime rua easy
That was a big shock back then. Coleman looked unbeatable, but Pete kept going & chopped him down like a tree. That final kick was a classic.
Seeing him try to jump over the ropes when he won the Pride 2000gp was gold! Piss funny.
I dont think lesnar lacked heart,he just was not conditioned to take hard blows. He had to learn too much in too short of a time. They couldnt have him get bashed around in sparring, they needed to keep him confident. Similar to how Rousey was trained.Really I think Coleman's losses in the UFC were about cardio(and a questionable decision sv Rizzo) with guys basically just locking him up on the ground and waiting for him to gas in long fights, I don't think it was until Nog turned up that he was actually outclassed.
His chin/heart is definitely underrated though, Brock had the chin as well and maybe better but lacked the heart.

If Lesnar lacked heart he never would have made it through the Carwin fight.
Sure but MMA was a different landscape when Lesnar stepped in. It wasnt like Coleman just getting in there with other guys in the early days of the sport. Lesnar's coaches knew what they were up against, and it was a tall fuckin order. They hid the negatives, and accentuated the positives,as best they could. I think if they had brought Lesnar in from jump St and could take their time, they could get him ready to deal with that aspect. To be fair Brock was training for MMA from what early 2006? guys like Coleman went into MMA with a lot less prep time than that.
Brock didnt totally melt under pressure but he was prone to panicking in bad positions as vs Carwin and Cain.
I really dont want him to fight at all but I love that he's sober and got a dog called little hammer. I just want dude to like hit the lotto and live like a king for the rest of his days. UFC should bring him into the front row and honor him,esp since he wont drunkenly grapple joe rogan since hes sober lolHe was showing up on my ig for a while with his alcohol free carnivore diet training videos looked decent. And I believe supposed to box in October but I haven't seen a post of his in a while...BRB checking now.
Edit-
He's 2 years 5 months sober
He got a dog for the first time ever called little hammer I think.
His fight date got moved to December 4th in Atlantic city.
9ancestral tenants bros.

lol @ comparing mere mortals to Fedor the Magnificent. Fedor the Unassailably Calm. Fedor the Imperturbable. God Of Tranquility. Stoic of stoics.Fedor was fighting Nog for the belt in Pride on the same kind of time frame as Lesnar fighting for the UFC belt.
I think the problem was Lesnar did not like full contact sparing and didnt take many smaller fights so wasnt really well prepped.

I think more often than not,you DO need seasoning, esp now as opposed to then...but some guys are just a tornado that can be difficult to deal with from jump.It does show you though that back in the day loads of big names went to the top level of the sport fairly quickly.
I think the idea you need 5+ years to be fighting at that level really is as much marketing as anything, it takes that long to get signed by the UFC and built up.
More recent but brutal. Dude was tapping for his life at the World's against our boy, but no tap in wrestling. Lol

Even on the juice kevin was way too small for the Big Cat. During that same tournament Tom fought an even smaller guy in Bustamante and couldn’t pass his guard the whole fight. Shows how good Busta was.Would have looked alot like Couture vs Randleman.
I would have liked to see these guys fight Erickson in his prime. Once again Kev stepped up and got blasted
If I’m not mistaken Nog and Fedor first fought in 2003 and Lesnar won the belt in 2009.Fedor was fighting Nog for the belt in Pride on the same kind of time frame as Lesnar fighting for the UFC belt.
