Media Mario Bautista Defends Aldo Performance

And as much as I love Aldo, post titlerun - he has a tendency to get stuck against the cage (sth. he doesn't mind doing himself to opponents btw.). This is how both Merab and Volk beat him. Worked out for both at the end of the day.
This. His legendary takedown defence allowed those guys to do nothing to him, but at the same time you can't expecting to get the win, doing that the whole fight. Even without success the one who initiates the takedown is still the aggressor, and if that is all what's happening the entire round then that's what the scoring is gonna come down to.

He won the fight and lost the fans with that performance. Don’t try to play it any other way, buddeh.
I think he should have lost the fight I didn't think it was a winning performance. He should not be matched up as a winner after that.

I'm not even being biased in this I genuinely thought aldo won the fight, aldo should get cejduo, Bautista should move backwards and fight barboza or sodiq

Yup. And instead of being like "hey guys i know that was a boring fight but im trying to win out here" he just doubles down and tries to convince everyone it was a great victory.
It was a victory, but it was not great. Not even good. Its just a win.
Fans dont want to see wall-n-stall

volk and merab did the same thing

only thing u can do is win and hope everyone else forgets. definitely cant be defending the wall and stall. if anything double down and be like "yeah, and i will again if someone shows me they cant or wont do anything about it"

stunning to me that this fight happened in october. feels like it happened 6 years ago

Aldo weakness to being stalled out on the fence has always been there, Ken Flo had him there for most of a round. It's just that most of the guys he faced during his reign just pointlessly tried to take him down instead.

If there is an obvious strategy to beat somebody that is otherwise very difficult to consistently outpoint, it's ridiculous to expect fighters not to use it.

Shit fighter gets rewarded for that shit performance by booking him against the weakest "top" guy in the division.

They should have fed him to a grappler or something.

He put on a stinker against a fan favourite to guarantee a win. Fine, I understand why. But no point 'defending it' - fight differently if you want fans, or don't.
