Media Marc Goddard says Adesanya vs Gastelum was the best fight he ever reffed, admits he cried afterwards

It's one of the very best fights ever.

I can't imagine how hard it must be as a ref to not shout "Oh shit!!!" Etc at those insane moments like Gastelum landing that head kick, triangle attempt, 5th round beat down round, etc.
There is a fight where I vividly remember Mar Goddard yelling "oh shit!"
Was it a Poatan KO?

There is spit flying out of his mouth multiple times in that clip.

That would be the last time we saw flashes of what Kelvin could have been.
Guy literally is the definition of "could have been" if he didn't have some of the shittiest discipline imaginable.
Had what it takes to at least become a Rockhold type of transitional champion.

Yea he had all the tools. Chin, power, wrestling, and even cardio at times, but shit sub defense. I often wondered if some of those subs were just him quitting. He should have beat guys like Till and Magny. Was able to take rounds from guys like Weidman and Izzy in their prime and actually have them in some trouble. Just an interesting figure in MMA history. He definitely did OK in UFC imo.

That fight took everything out of Kelvin, literally career changing.

Yeah that was a banger. Both guys were hurt multiple times.. and was back and forth until the end

That Kelvin would really be a problem for the top dawgs in the division today apart from DDP.

I've seen at least 50 fights better than this one. It was above average, that's it.
man, come on

Even if theres 50 fights better than it doesnt mean it wasnt a great fight, or nit the best fight he ever reffed.

Plus actually being in the cage gave the dude a full ounce. Really great fight.

His size held him back too. Like Hendricks he would have benefitted from a 175 lbs div.

Hendricks had to kill himself to make 170 and was clearly too short for 185.
