I do not blame the refs for the pokes. You know as well as I do that they are awful hard to see for certain in real time. Sure as "fans" it is easy to whine and complain that the ref did not stop the fight or take a point away, AFTER we have seen the slow mo replay. The way to handle this situation is for the 3 judges to have full access to slow mo between rounds, and give them authority to deduct a point themselves in their scoring, rather than relying on the ref to do it.
