Malcolm Wallmaker: Another Hype-Job Exposed or can he Bounce Back?

Ewing wanted it more.

I would not chalk Wellmaker up as a hype job, but I think he's a gatekeeper/journeyman. I think it's a little late for him to make the major changes necessary for him to take his game to the championship level.

I think he is still really good at his strengths but he found out what he has to get better at.

Still a lot of potential IMO. Time will tell if he can bounce back.

Ewing is just that good. Both guys have a bright future.

<PlusJuan> glass half full n shit. That's what's up.

Wellmaker smoked the dude O Malley hit with everything he had for the full time and needed a gift stoppage to get a TKO over and Wellmaker smoked that dude easy in R1 (Motuno I think)

Wellmaker might have started sipping his own hype coolaid a bit getting an embedded camera crew to follow him and having more bright lights on him.

I'm not ready to close the book on him yet.

The story was that Ewing kid came out fighting to show the world who he is and came to make his mark.

Using MMA math to make your point?

Sure sign of LOW IQ. 😂 That’s “whats up” homey.

<DCWhoa>

A non-angry post from Sal? Meds must be kicking in…

Ewing looked really good - has that Mighty Mouse style imo . Always first to the spot and sees the openings. Got great timing and accuracy an diesnt suvk on ground either.

He is a Bw tho no Fw yet. Well.aker is yound an can bounce back

Malcolm got a lot of internet attention after quitting Starbucks or something to focus full time on MMA.

Stuff went viral and he became somewhat of an overnight sensation of sorts.

However, dude is 31 years old and just got beat by a short notice fill in who apparently was run over by a car a few days before putting it on Wallmaker.

Where do you Sher-Pundits see his career going from here??

31 !?!? I honestly thought he was 22 or 23.

He's got potential and great KO power, but it definitely looks like he'll be borderline useless against higher-level competition. Either that, or Ethyn (sp?) is a secret world-beater-in-waiting, which I'd be happy about.

Ewing was like a +800 dog plus he had just been run over by a car.

He might be good but damn, Wallmaker dropped the ball.

What worried me about Wellmaker is that he had no plan b. His grappling was subpar and IIRC his cardio wasn't great either.
His striking also looks to rely too much on his 1 punch KO power. He wasn't throwing a lot of volume.

Did you watch the fight? Or is this boxing where every fighter sucks the moment they lose?

I thought he still looked great.
If he was fighting a top ranked guy, you could say he looked great in the loss.

The fact that he was fighting a no name regional jobber who took it on short notice is not a good look for a guy who was hyped up as the next contender.
