Israel is having trouble finishing Middleweights these days. 1 Take down against glover and Izzy gets rear naked choked with ease. He had his shot at 205 and failed it, time to move on until at the very least you actually have 0 new challengers. Which isn't the case. As he has Cannonier in front of him, and if Strickland can get another good win him as well. Then after that, barring Darren Till surging back up the rankings and producing yet another fresh match up then maybe we can talk. But even then they might rush Perreira into a title shot given their history, and Alex's age. Even then I doubt i'll care to see him move up again.

You fail to mention that on the other hand, Izzy hasn't even remotely looked anywhere close to being in trouble since the Kelvin fight. Robs grappling threat was so trivial Izzy willingly gave his back to get back up. Literally laughed off Robs rear naked choke attempt. Do you remember Marvin? who isn't a great grappler but isn't a bad grappler either. Well he had about as perfect set up as you can get - has Izzy's back, both hooks in.... arm nearly under chin. And well, need I go on.

So the grappling threat from texeira might be at a higher level, but unless hes softened Izzy up first (like he did to Jan) he won't be getting much. And of course, given your post represents a deluded scenario, you have missed the main challenge for Texeira, how do you even close the distance to grapple without getting picked apart. Izzy is a master of distance control and will keep Texiera guessing - a fact which despite demonstrating this time and time again you have over looked. Jan only got takesdowns after 3 rounds of competitive standup, Texeira isn't anywhere close to that good on the feet.

No offense, you seem like you don't understand the sport. The simple fact that as the competition gets better, its harder to have highlight reel finishes or outstanding performances. Rob is elite, without Izzy there he would have cleaned out the division. Marvin is arguably sitting just behind Rob. Too much Anderson Silva myth for you my friend, duped by his record and highlight reel, but not taking into account the average level of competition he faced. Hence you think that "is normal". As soon as Anderson started facing decent competition he faced a bunch of red on his record, or was it when he got off the juice, probably both.
