Social Major surgery tomorrow; now accepting all Thoughts and Prayers

Good luck and get well soon. Cancer is all too common sadly. I hope to see a cure for all cancers within our life time so no one will will have to worry about it again.

I was diagnosed with gullet cancer back in November last year. Tomorrow is D-Day: I finally get the surgery to remove the cancer. Along with my gullet. The surgeons then stretch my stomach to make a new gullet.

The entire process is as pleasant as it sounds. The operation takes around six hours, and I'll be in hospital for at least 10 days. Much of it in the ICU, drugged up to my eyeballs.

I don't mind admitting that I'm shitting myself, bros. So yeah, any Thoughts and Prayers you've got laying around, throw them my way. I need all the help I can get;)
Wishing you the best of luck, brother! I’m not dealing with anything like you but I’ve had a lot of medical appointments lately and I’ve got some stuff coming up. Don’t want to spell them all out exactly but I have dental surgery tomorrow*.

I neglected my health too much as a young man and I’ve also got some genetic issues to deal with. But the good news is I’ve already done a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of watching what I eat and exercising so I should be better moving forward. Anyway, again, best of luck to you!

*Surgery is being delayed. I need antibiotics first and need to have the procedure done at another location.

I'm wishing you a strong recovery and a strong new gullet.

Sherbros never die. We only multiply. You're gonna be better than ever.

Thanks, brother! I hope whatever's coming your way isn't too erroneous.

Will never happen. I think they might advance treatments where some minor forms have like a 99% survival rate but the biggest problem with cancer is most guys don't even know they have it until it's already too late.

You'd need to have machines in everyone's homes to do scans etc. It just isn't practical to screen every man woman and child every 3 months at the hospital which is what it would require to catch it early enough. Most people start feeling symptoms first and by then it's usually too late.

My wife got to stage 3 before we knew. We got super lucky and she was a trooper and volunteered for what was essentially experimental treatment, but it was absolutely brutal for 2 years and it's never really over. She'll be getting low doses of chemo for the rest of her life.

How was the weekend @KnightTemplar ?

Not too bad, all things considering. Immediately after the operation, I had four different drains in, plus an epidural. I'm now down to one drain in my chest, and that should be coming out tomorrow. I should be discharged by next Monday at the latest:)
