Maia Prayer Vigil

90_12_58---Christmas-Candle_web.jpg

Maia, bring home the W, and bring more fans of the high high level jiu jitsu players to MMA.

I would love to see Maia vs Jacare in the UFC. That would be sick.

I still stand by this 4.5 years later...

Maia, prophet unto the gods of jiu jitsu, bringeth forth brutal submission victory against the djinn Patrick Bateman wannabe from the brutal cold north...

Namaste..

This is the first time I'll be rooting for Maia in a long time.

Maia son who died in 2010.
Walked the path of K1 for two years straight
Reborn on the third to bring the word
Dont mess with him or you get torn.

Defeat the Great Satan Rory MacDonald! I sense great evil in this one. It must be stamped OUT.

Well, I think that's a wrap on Maia ever being a legitimate title contender again. Too bad.

I thought his conditioning let him down big time. Not terrible, but a notch below where it needed to be.

Maia was completely dead from the second round on. He's lucky Rory doesn't have much killer instinct any more, or he'd have gotten finished.

That first round though, was incredible.

This thread title and theme has always annoyed me for some reason.

You don't like Maia?

He is pretty much the only guy repping pure (mostly) grappling at a high level. Sure it sucks when he can't get it done, but it's amazing when he does.

I love Maia. I hate deifying and worshiping fighters, and getting really into the theme of that (like holding a "prayer vigil" or making spiritual comparisons for example) as if there need to be saviors for some archaic style vs style nonsense.

I always thought the whole thing was tongue in cheek.
It sucked to see Maia dominate that first round and then gas.

It looked like he was gassed at the end of the first round as well. When Rory finally got back to his feet, Maia mostly just circled around backwards hoping for the round to end. Maia cuts a lot of weight to get to 170.
