While Magomed Ankalaev got the better of Alex Pereira in their first meeting, he doesn’t want a repeat of that performance in their rematch.

After defeating “Poatan” via unanimous decision at UFC 313 this past March, the Dagestani will defend the 205-pound belt against Pereira in the Noche UFC headliner on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The first fight was closely contested, as Ankalaev avoided his opponent’s power while outlanding the Brazilian in significant strikes. Pereira looked uncharacteristically hesitant in the bout, but Anaklaev warns that the former champion won’t have a chance to make improvements this time around.

“This fight will be completely different,” Ankalaev said on the UFC 320 Countdown Show. “This second fight, it’s not a chance for him to win. It’s a chance for me to finish him early. To dominate Alex Pereira.”

I can see Ank dominating. His defence is much, much tighter and because he moves with economy, he’s less exposed to counters when he enters range. That guard stays up, chin down. He also has the better timing, and we know precision > power.

I like both fighters but Ank has more tools.

I'll be rooting for Pereira to keep active.

I sure hope so, the first fight was awful.

I expect nothing, to be perfectly honest. At this point, just hoping it’s not as horrible as the first one.
