Movies MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (Dragonlord's Review)

One of the most overrated movies in recent years. Story was so lame, travel all that way and then just go back again. Boring.

Far better then tripe like Blade Runner 2049, it's like pure torture trying to get through that movie its sooooooo slowly paced. It has a runtime of 3 hours but feels like its a 12 hour long movie.

Whilst I enjoyed 2049 I'd agree its not as good as Fury Road, the latter film knows exactly what it is and carries that off perfectly, 2049 though I think gets caught halfway between art-house drama and action thriller.

The Max of Fury Road though to me was more a soft reboot of the character rather than an obvious continuation of the earlier one.

Yes, but the bit at the beginning established that the basic back story was still the same. I don't think Max will ever get any more development than he did in Mad Max 1 and 2.

It makes some vague suggestions as to a tragic past somewhat similar to the original but I don't think enough that the "man with no name" lable is incorrect, that's very much how Fury Road used him IMHO, albeit with more of a dramatic edge.

Wasn't the name banded around for a sequel "The Wasteland"? You could argue that after Fury Road it would make sense to scale things back, more of a survival film with Max in a harsh landscape with only individuals or very small settlements. Namibia certainly isn't lacking in natural scenery that could be used as the main visuals of the film.

it's not. it's set between movies (I forget which. May be the second & third).

LET'S ALL JUST BE COOL. LET'S STAY CALM.

Nope, BR2049 I think that I would rather watch a Reese Witherspoon romcom then that again. They're going to start using the Blu Ray for the movie instead of waterboarding at Guantanamo Bay soon.

Blade Runner 2049 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mad Max

Honestly, I could add more of these >>>> but it would get annoying.

It's not that I hated Mad Max, but I didn't find it particularly entertaining or interesting beyond its technical achievements. Whereas Blade Runner 2049 is the best film of this year.

Both are among the top 5 movies made in this century. No need to compare them.

Damn they completely deleted shadowpriests profile.

I would have a hard time picking a better one.

But then again, I don't watch that many movies anymore.
On the balance of mainstream appeal, technical achievement, storytelling, spectacle on top of music, completeness of execution, stand-alone quality vs franchise inclusion, and emotion/tone you won't likely find a better and well-known film. There might be smaller films that touch you more deeply. IW/EG are great achievements culminating a 22-film arc, but somewhat depend on them. I cannot think of too many films in recent memory that strike me as INSTANT CLASSIC™.

Many people will argue the story is too simplistic, but it's rather the genius of the film if it maintains interest despite being a relatively meatless plot with nary a twisty turn. And it did for me. Others not so much, but yanoooooooo....

most disappointing thing on film since Neve Campbell's tits. (and @A.A. Riggs' So you think you can dance? audition)
@Sonny

where the fuck is sonny
