Movies MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (Dragonlord's Review)

LETS DRIVE TO THERE!!!!
LETS DRIVE BACK AGAIN!!!

WITNESSS!!!!

What's not to like?

Really? I'd say the 1000% on RT, the overwhelming praise by the public, and the recognition by the awards people is a little louder than a few people on the internet saying they didn't like it.
Yes really, the thread is immediately flooded with people that couldn't stand the movie, giving the impression that a lot of people didn't. When in reality, it's a small, vocal minority. Which is exactly what I said.

There is a big difference between your argument and the thread I started. The thread that I started was about MY view point of the movie and to see if I am alone on this or not. As I can see the replies flowing in I am far from alone on this.

Then there is you arguing people's view point and their methods.

2 totally different things.
You are actually arguing a person's point.
Me stating my opinion and see if others agree.

Again, you are here to argue I am here to see if I am alone on something which I am not.

My job here is done. You have no been schooled!

Lmao

There you go

Its a forum, the internet, were people are free to give their views and discuss differences on a subject. Be prepared to have other opinions different from yours.

The movie is about the bad guys chasing the good guys. That's it. It is definitely overrated.

The problem (after 1 painful viewing)

- There is an unending stream of shit flying across the screen.
- Max has become a worthless character. Even with the mask off he's worthless.
- Why should I be excited by these action scenes? I don't really give a fuck about what's going on. I care about Max, but he's just tied to a pole or whatever. Never mind him, ok? Ok.
- WTF was up with that overcranked camera or whatever? Let's just make it look less and less real by the minute.
- The bad guys have practically unlimited resources. Gone is the universal desperation of the Road Warrior, and the pig shit power system of Bartertown. Humungous had like 5 bullets, he was a desperate man. Aunty had a tenuous hold on Bartertown, and true loyalty from only a few henchmen. The guy in MM4 is a fucking billionaire, apparently.
- Action scenes are ridiculous. Motorcycles are just flying into the fray out of nowhere. Everything is perfectly choreographed and soul-less. The vehicles are pretty much perfect too.
- There is 1 bad guy with a motivation. The rest are fighting to the death just so their boss can get laid. So let me grab my big ass monster truck and get moving and risk everything, ok! Every single character in the Road Warrior had a first hand motivation to simply survive another day.
- There is a town of many thousands of slave idiots. How do they sustain this place? Do they eat dirt? Oh, I see. There is a 200 million dollar water system they have installed. Resources to burn.
- Idk who caught who, I forget. But HTF does a person catch another at arm's length with 1 hand out a window and hold them? Beyond belief, that was laughable. LOL'd literally, for about a minute.

The characters are ok. Whats-her-face is kind of cool. But it's just a 2 hour chase scene, and it gets old quick. The only thing at stake prior to the final scene is... how long is this mindless shit going to go on?

One thread. Hardly flooded. Half the people in here are defending it.

Nah, the majority of posts in here are negative.

It's up to 75 posts in a few minutes, filled up pretty quickly.

Are you arguing just to argue or is there a point here? Because there is literally a vocal minority being represented ITT lol.

You create a thread without any interest in debating the subject? Then you tried for a counterpoint, but follow up with saying you aren't here to argue?

Waste of space.

You have no been schooled!
You declearing victory after refusing to play definitely means I have "no been schooled".

No been schooled? What form of English is this?

Yes. Enjoyed it, but it didn't really stand out much to me.

"The vocal minority is always the loudest" does not apply here, is my point. The vocal minority is just that. They're certainly not drowning out the ridiculously overwhelming praise this movie has, and continues to receive by the much, much, MUCH louder vocal majority.

SouthPaw is a legit movie. Makes Mad Max look like a student film. It's highly enjoyable, and the actors actually act in it and there's actual direction by the director. Great movie.

Man, I really wanted to love Southpaw. Slick, stylish, great action, excellent acting.

I liked but didn't love it. It felt like it was missing something, it had the core we've all seen a hundred times, and little else. You could set your watch to the highs and lows, you saw each of them coming because they always come at the same times in this genre. I definitely enjoyed it. Gyllenhaal was amazing.

I felt Fury Road was better, next level better. The action sequences were novel and unpredictable, the story was simple yet elegant, the camera work was some of the best I have ever seen in the genre, the supporting cast was vibrant, textured and charismatic, and Tom Hardy was phenomenal. Mad Max the franchise pretty much defines anti-heroism in action films and it was beautifully executed here. The extremely limited dialogue from Max was a bold move (especially when you have an actor that can do anything with any dialogue) and Furiosa as a clear, strong hero driving the action was an electric dynamic that while true to the franchise (think about the previous films and the contrasts they draw between Max and the other, nobler protagonists in their stories) has never been better. I have heard people complain about how simple the story was and how little happened, but I think that within this simple structure, a great deal happened. Think about each chapter of the story and the decisions each character has to make before it moves on. Nothing is simple.

I'm not going to say that the people who disliked or were disappointed with Fury Road didn't see these things I'm talking about, but I do think they might not have been looking for them, and that's fine. They are atypical elements in action films and are absent in most of them; I just happened to think they were excellent here and I loved the movie. I do not think it was over rated.

everyone has different entertainment tastes. Much like you thought Fury Road was way better than SouthPaw, I thought SP was way better than fury road. I think we can both admit, both movies are pretty predictable.. IMO, southpaw would have been better if he got his daughter back before his come back fight. Then he loses the fight, goes ape shit in the locker room, accidently hits his daughter, social worker sees, then he loses his daughter. End movie... But no one likes a bummer ending. But that would have been less predictable. Like you think everything is going to work out, then it all goes to shit in one punch...

IMO, best movie of 2015. Ex Machina. Shit is creepy, hilarious, and pretty original.

It's all good. I liked your reply to my reply. Glad someone clearly a fan of the movie can be logical about what's going on here.

Not laughing at you. Just the fact that I expected a movie thread discussion to turn out like this. Happens all the time.

To be honest, I hate using words like "better" when comparing movies. It's extremely subjective, as you say.

I loved Ex Machina, need to watch it again. Beautiful film.

Funny thing is I love the Machete Kills movies and they are so far out there. I think I like it for it's on purpose ridiculous and the girls are fucking hot as hell plus some of the scenes and scenarios are sexy as hell. Like the mom and daughter seen....CHUBBY ALERT!
