Movies MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (Dragonlord's Review)

Reminds me of what TGF said last year about those that watch a very-hyped movie many months after its release are sometimes disappointed. Or something like that.

That is very true, but with this I don't see it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it. It just didn't light my world on fire.

Nothing sinister, I assure you.

Reminds me of that article Dragon brought up with Tarantino lamenting Aronofsky's decision to optimize his films for iPhone. I wonder what's the visual story that NAILS it across any platform? Barring animation, I think. Animation's too easy. What resonates equally on the large, small, and truncated screens?

Best film of 2015 by a mile.

Haven't seen The Revenant or The Martian though.

No biggie. Maybe it'll grow on you after repeated viewings in the future.

Some films are immeasurably more enjoyable on the big screen and I think mad Max is definitely one. That's why I always go back to the cinema to rematch a movie I loved if its an action movie or a movie with great cinematography like sicaroo or even great music like creed.
Wheras most comedy or drama films I won't bother to watch at the cinema and will wait.

People seeing mad max for the first time on TV or bluray are missing out.

Nothing sinister, I assure you.

It's a tough question. Although, I think the strongest films resonate over all formats. I don't need a big screen to enjoy a movie. A small screen doesn't hide anything. A big screen just cosmetically improves the experience. I don't think it affects the movie's overall quality. I don't want to watch a movie on a phone, but I think my favorite films would play just fine on one, if that's all I had. Take Goodfellas for instance(my #1 movie of all time). I could watch that on my iWatch, and still love it.

On the other hand, look at a movie like "Gravity" which in my opinion doesn't work without all of the big screen tricks. Personally, I think that's a sign of a weak movie, if it only works when relying on the big screen like a crutch.

I watched this again on my 60" and I thought it was great. My only regret is that I wasn't able to get to a 4D theater to watch this when it was in theaters.

It was my first 4D film. Totally worked for me.
I love the cinematography, and normally I'm not a devout Roger Deakins fan. I have heard a complaints about the end; I have to admit it kinda turns into ROAD HOUSE a little bit. Which is fine. Right? I mean come on. ROAD HOUSE? Get out of here.

See I'm the opposite. I think a movie needs dat big black ... theater. It's the best bet for marshaling focus entirely on the screen, which should fill up the eyeballs as the sound should ears. Distractions are limited. You've put money on the line, so you want a return on your investment.

But there have been a number of films I've gained appreciation for during their cable runs. Kinda pursuant to the above, all movies want to be liked. No film wants to come out the gate like I'm the SHITTIEST (I'm sure someone's gon' try to prove me wrong). Sometimes you have to give a film a few tries before it clicks for you. To forgive its warts, so to speak.

Mad Max - Fury Road - OVERRATED?

Last night I was watching a few movies on my DVR to free up space and one was Mad Max that just recently showed up on one of the movie channels. I had high hopes for this because of the ratings and the actor and man IMHO it sucked!

I can understand if you still thank that Steven Avery is guilty but you have to admit that what happened to Brendan Dassey was deplorable at best.

I thought it was OK, but not great. The reviews of it that I read were a bit generous.

Shit was tight, tight, tight!

Definitely one of the better films of 2015, imo.

Entertaining film. Not much for a plot. Good music score though.
