Movies MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (Dragonlord's Review)

Actions speak louder than words is what drives this film. People don't need to talk when its what they do or don't do that defines their fate.

This.

This film relies on action and showing and its up to the audience to piece together what's happening rather than being told what's happening.

MAD MAX and ROGUE NATION Among Biggest Summer Ad Buys

Mad-Max-Fury-Road-090815-Dragonlord.jpg

An eclectic trio of films — Mad Max: Fury Road, Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation and Entourage — topped the list of the 2015 summer movies getting the biggest television advertise spend in the U.S. All in, Warners spent $43.7 million on ads for Fury Road, George Miller's critically acclaimed prequel, while Paramount spent $42 million to plug Rogue Nation on the airwaves, according to iSpot.tv, which monitors TV advertising. Entourage, the adaptation of the hit HBO series, also got a big spend — or $40.7 million.

As with Mad Max, Entourage is likewise from Warners, known for being aggressive when it comes to marketing. The studio easily spent more than any of its rivals on television advertising for its 2015 summer slate, or $264.3 million, acccording to iSpot. That represents 27.1 percent of the total $973.3 million paid on TV movie ads between May 15 and Aug. 31, a hefty sum underscoring just how much studios and indie distributors remain tethered to the small screen when it comes to promoting their wares.

After Warners, Universal spent the most on TV advertising, or $168.9 million. The studio — on fire at the box office and enjoying the biggest year in history for any Hollywood studio — spent $34.9 million to advertise Jurassic World, $26.1 million on Minions and $25.6 million on Trainwreck (that includes ads that ran before May 15).

Disney followed with $1,104 million for four releases. The studio and Marvel Studios spent more on Ant-Man ($34.8 million) than on Avengers: Age of Ultron ($26.9 million) since the former was a new property. The spend on Pixar's Inside Out was $27 million, roughly the same amount allocated for Disney's summer bomb Tomorrowland.

Fox spent $90 million for TV advertising, including $24.3 million for Fantastic Four, $23.4 million for box-office hit Spy and $16.9 million for Paper Towns. Sony spent an estimated $72.5 million. Adam Sandler's Pixels received a generous $32.1 million in TV ad buys. Paramount spent $65.5 million on television ads between May 15 and Aug. 31, split up largely between Mission: Impossible and Terminator: Genisys.

Summer Movie Ad Buys: 'Mission: Impossible,' 'Mad Max' Get Biggest U.S. Spend

Unless you give this movie a 10/10 and praise as the greatest masterpiece of all time then you basically have shitty taste in movies according to this thread. All hail our king and saviour Mad Max Fury Road, no film in past present and future will ever come close to approaching the cinematic greatness of this masterpiece.

Simply flawless in every area of film production:

- incredibly thrilling and deep plot/stroy with zero plot holes, so many plot twists and complex storyline.
- the best and most complex coreographed action scenes ever witnessed by human senses, you got it all here the best hand to hand fighting scenes, melee weapons, car chases, explosions, gunplay.
- acting performances worthy of 100 oscar winners, daniel day lewis would hang his head in shame after witnessing this film. Best Actor goes to Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in a 2 way tie, best supporting actor goes to the 5 supermodel chicks.

Final Rating: 96297569159992/10

Neither funny, nor accurate. You just seem salty at this point. Maybe it's time to move on?

It really is all those things to me, though.

Don't give a shit what that makes me in someone else's eyes. Fury Road is GOAT.

Good film, but acting sucked. They did not need Tom Hardy in that role. They could have used a tough looking nobody. He barely said a thing anyways.

Yet I liked. All action from start to finish.

But I really want to see Max have a happy ending. If they make a trilogy out of this, I want the final film to be Max getting some peace and stability, nahmean.

Max Rockatansky barely says anything since road warrior.

Hes got more dialogue in mmfr then road warrior btw.

Never. As long as the majority make outlandish statements to call it the best movie of all time then I will continue to be invested in this film. Some of my favorite films are the most polarizing and people have absolutely no hesitation to call some of those films dog shit, and I never called this film dog shit, I gave it a very generous 7.5, I would have actually scored it lower but I took into account that the hype negatively affected my experience and I never viewed in theaters with big screen and big sound. As I suspected that this was a theater film, but to me the greatest movies don't require to be viewed in theater to fully appreciate.

I usually don't go into a movie thread to rain on other peoples parade but as a visual artist myself who plans on one day working in the film industry I am genuinely curious as to the perceived perfection of the film. Even with my favorite films I am willing to acknowlege faults in the film but their is a certain lack of objectivity and humility with fans of this film as evidenced by this thread:

- someone criticizes the acting? no it's perfect.
- someone criticizes the lack of story? no it's perfect.

That's the thread in a nutshell. And when so many people call it greatest action film of all time or even the greatest film of all time then I start to get a bit ruffled as to me that is an insult to the history of filmmaking. This may sound a bit offensive but to me this film is representative of the current societal trend of base level, adrenaline shot in the arm style of entertainment, it's an assault on the senses similar to a MTV music videos, with a distinct lack of depth and soul. It's flashy, fast, loud, ugly and in your face and a bit annoying.

I've watched the film 2.5 times and could not finish it in one sitting every time and I am considering watching it on imax. I am morbidly curious as the incredible level of praise this film is receiving, I feel like its become a personal mission to uncover the supposed greatness of this film and as an artist it has become a bit of a personal project to increase my understanding of what audiences respond to.

Tom Hardy didn't look right for the role.
They should've brought back Mel Gibson again.
I mean if they brought back Arnold for another Terminator film, Jean-Claude Van Damme for another Kickboxer film, Bruce Willis for another Die Hard film, and Sylvester Stallone for another Rocky film, then they damn well should've done something with Gibson.

Just look at Mel right here.
Even without makeup he looks Marvelous!

I would get a different career. You'll probably going to end up working on sharknado 4

That's nonsense. Mel looks like a haggard old man. Tom Hardy, as odd as he was at first, was perfect for the role.

You gave it a 7.5 but can't sit through it in one sitting? Don't let other people's opinions change your mind.. just score it with your personal opinion. Enough people have given it high scores, so if you give it a 6/10 or whatever it's not going to really do anything to the overall rating.

I don't go into the thread much but seeing as how about 62% of the people gave it less than a 10, I would think most do not think it's perfect in all aspects.

I gave it a 9. I think it was great. It's a straight-forward action film set in a cool world. The acting was OK, I thought Charlize Theron did a pretty good job and everyone else either did ok or good. While there isn't much "heart" in the film in the sense of emotional investment, I think that the atmosphere made up for it. Seeing the horde in the distance during some scenes made it feel like they were always being chased- constant threat.

It's what an action movie should be. Too many action movies nowadays are long and waste time with a plotline that no one really cares about and save the action for an "epic" conclusion with little action sprinkled throughout. Mad Max does not fuck around and gets right to it.

My only "major" complaint is that for being rated R I was hoping to see more graphic violence. Might sound like a stupid complaint, but I think showing limbs flying off in explosions and things like that would have just added to the brutality of the world they are in.

Actually I'm a concept designer, I wouldn't actually be involved in the script or storyline for the most part. And if Sharknado 4 offered me some work for concepts I would take it for the right price as one cannot be too finicky in such a competitive market. Btw, I thought the concept and character design work for Max Max was exceptional, some high level stuff there.

But thanks for the encouragement, sorry I didn't give your fav. movie a 10/10. You should probably go back to serving burgers while I'm going after my dream career.

I try to be objective as possible when rating a film, several things can factor in a persons rating of a film: who they watch it with, what format they watch it in, their personal interest in the subject and themes, their expectations of the film, everyone is prone to this but 99% of people never admit that they could be affected by external factors, whereas I'm very aware of my own limitations as a human being. If I watched Mad Max and never heard of it, ho hype, no commercials, no reviews I estimate I would have given it a 7.5 so that is the score that I gave it, if I had watched in the theatre with big screen and big sound I may have rated a tad bit higher.

I had difficulty watching it in one sitting because of the camera work, constant quick cuts, a million zoom ins and 1.5x sped up action scenes, I watched it all in one day though, just a few hours apart. This isn't that rare for me, even though it's not my type of film, objectively speaking it's not a bad film.

I don't go into the thread much but seeing as how about 62% of the people gave it less than a 10, I would think most do not think it's perfect in all aspects.

40% of people rating as perfect is not a lot to you? And mind you that 40% seem to be the most vocal ones here, try criticizing this movie in any way on here and expect to be ridiculed, told you have bad taste in movies and considered a blasphemer.

Guys

It's one of the greatest movies I've ever seen in my entire life!

I have the same viewpoint as MMAmathwiz on this - anyone with any critisizm towards this movie is met with ridicule and personal comments. It may be my perception but I don't think this is the first time this has been noted.

It can't be helped that your mother smells of elderberries.
