Look at that.

Somebody capable of putting 2's and 2's together. I'm unfamiliar with you, too. Nice to have you aboard, Mr. Mysterious 2010.

So let me get this straight. Everybody is attempting to hack everyone else, but Russia is the only nation capable of successfully implementing their hacks at the most opportune times, to tip the scales of world politics in their favor?

Do you understand how ridiculous this is starting to sound? We don't even know how legit this hack is, and already the narrative is that it was Russia. No proof, no confirmation of anything, but it was certainly Russia, if it happened. LOL.

Honestly I think the "nationalistic" right-wing movement simply has the more driven people, who may also be operating outside of the sphere of the regular society, which they deem to be going against their interests. Many of the programmers, underground hackers, or "autists", as I suppose they are now called, are pretty much on board with the so-called "far-right" or "alt-right" or whichever is the preferred media label at the time. Not saying all of them, but quite a lot of them, as far as I know.

The far-left is probably more likely to cause havoc on the streets, unlike the "Nazis in the cellars", but they're pretty much content with just breaking up a few places and that's it. The mainstream media does their job in digging up dirt on the likes of Trump and Le Pen, so there's no real need for individuals to take active efforts to expose their character.

At the end of the day, nobody's going to feel as strongly for voting in favour of a Hillary Clinton or a Macron, compared to a Le Pen or a Trump. If you vote for the latter, then you probably feel quite strongly about it. Strongly enough to potentially do something about it. Especially since the media is not really even trying to play "fair" in regards to your chosen candidate. I don't know what the French media has been doing, but the local media in Finland has pretty much been shitting on Le Pen from day one.

In that sense it is not surprising that the people who support a Le Pen, or a Trump, are more inclined to take matters into their own hands, even to the point of trying to hack into e-mails and such, to balance out the media narrative.

The timing is shameful - not about allowing people to form their opinion but about swaying people last minute. I believe the French will show reactance here.

I don't know how you can vote for Macron.

You don't think it's obvious what's happening now? Hard to believe anyone can still deny it.

The possibility of any other right wing group doing this, doesn't even cross your mind? It's always Russia no matter what? They are the only enemy of the left who have hacking capabilities?

I repeat, LOL.

Russia is one of the only nations with a state-level hacking program capable of doing what they're doing, yes, and among those dozen or two nations, they're the only ones with Putin at the helm.

No, it's not ludicrous at all, and there already has been plenty of evidence to substantiate it in our case.

Russia really has some magical hacking abilities. I don't care who leaks what, I want to know if there is information that is worth knowing. Yes, it would mean more to me if both sides had emails on wikileaks.. But IT'S WHAT'S IN THE EMAILS THAT MATTERS, NOT THE HACK ITSELF.. WHICH COULD HAVE OF COURSE COME FROM ANYWHERE.

From what I've read most of these e-mails were stolen through amateur-level hacking programs, largely as a result of ineptitude on the part of the politicians involved, more so than anything else.

While Russia may be a culprit, you don't really need "state-level hacking programs" to achieve such "leaks". All you need are a bunch of old, incompetent buffoons who don't know how to secure their information.

All they did in the DNC's case, was catch Podesta with a phishing scam. Not exactly the most sophisticated form of hacking you're describing.

You have one known incident, and it was a phishing scam that some idiot fell for. If that's all it takes to break into an agency's server, there are countless groups out there with those capabilities.

Not to mention the countless other sophisticated hacks of all sorts, that have been pulled off by non-Russians, and non-government agencies. This narrative that it could only be Russia is indeed ludicrous.

What's funny is that everyone was joking about this before it happened, and then it happens and it still gets denied.

Russians are off their game, if this is the best they can do. It's a day late and a franc short. Sure, it will spread online, and the media blackout means Marcron won't be able to officially respond. But it's way too late in the game to make any real difference to the result. Macron still takes this easily.

I haven't seen any evidence reported that directly links this particular attack to the Russians, but there's been reports dating weeks back of "APT 28" / "Fancy Bear" / "Sofacy" / "Pawn Storm" phishing for accounts linked to Macron.

Dude it was a phishing scam lol not some super advanced hacking program only the evil genius mastermind Putin could pull off.

Russia is the left's new boogeyman. Funny enough it used to be the right that jumps at the mention of Russia.

I don't think this will help Le Pen win the election. The margin is too wide for this to sway the election. The most likely outcome is Macron struggles with damaging scandals even before his presidency starts, further eroding France's political establishment's image in the eyes of the public. Macron will be hindered from day one. If he can't deliver on his promise and security situation continues to deteriorate, Le Pen (or her daughter) would be in a good position to capitalize in 2022.

Doesnt matter, she will still lose.
Her acting like a complete retard in the public debate and throwing fake accusations with no backup had no effect on voters, and this pathetic desperate last minute attempt wont have one either.
This only shows how far Putin is willing to go in order to medle with european politics, and how dumb the average knuckle-dragging shertard is to fall for this obvious trick.
one can only deny the problems in France regarding immigration.....for so long

there's a reason she's one of the final two candidates, you never know.

Germany had to deal with plenty cybernetic attacks from Russia the last couple of years.
The Deutsche Telekom incident from last year is widely known, when around a million of ppl. remained without internet connection.

They also tried to medle in multiple elections in east-european countries.

Putin would try everything to destabilize Europe in order to consolidate himself, and i shake my head in disbelief when i see americans (of all the people) showing admiration and even supporting this murderous kleptocrat with dictator-like tendencies.
