Machida crane kicking Couture was a paradigm shift

illegal strike. Daniel was the real bully.

Couture was the ultimate no frills, practical fighter. Wrestling and dirty boxing, no room for fancy "unrealistic" shit.

Then in his very last fight gets knocked by a fancy unrealistic crane kick.
or maybe... Randy was 9001 years old and that shit never would have landed on younger faster reflexes randy.

47 year old fighter gets slept, big deal

Wasn't very surprising for me, Randy should've retired after he got the layup fight with James Toney.

Randy’s last fight , I was there , 15 years ago already, fuck man time flies
Wow. That makes me sad. I remember having the PPV on my DVR and watching this KO back over and over again. He was retiring after this fight either way-Machida sends him off with a crane/flying front kick from half way across the octagon and with a few less teeth then he came into the fight with. But yeah dude I can’t believe it was that long ago. I don’t really know exactly WHEN it happened but there was a shift where like…the whole sport change or we started a new era OP may be spot on about this paradigm shift-the fighters went from our favorite fighters and hero’s to like..young guys we watched come up. The last breed was like all already fighting when most of us started watching the sport. It just feels different now.

It's a skill he obtained by drinking pee

Just a throwback for that mindblowing moment.

he was 47 years old. it had zero significance

If it were a common kick, sure. But it was not. Couture would never see that kick coming no matter his age.
haha, it looked goofy. machida doesnt have the most aestethically pleasing kicks. watch specialized jump kickers and you will see their gravity is completely different. it's forward.

Sometimes shit works, and sometimes nothing works. It’s a coin flip. Do you have the balls to do it? 13-second knockout, or you’re done. Dead on the floor.

I don't think Randy is on purpose no fancy things. He just can't kick.
