Lyoto Machida - Is he a legend?

Yes he is the karate goat

This sport is so young its hard to call people legends but he's definitely one of the best Light Heavyweights to have ever done it

I am open to having an argument about it.

Why do you think he is a legend?

I personally think that he was a good fighter but UFC has had a lot of good fighters. Not sure what makes machida special
He beat like 8 or 9 former or current champions in his career?
Rashad
Mousasi
Penn
Shogun
Dan hendo
Franklin
Ortiz
Couture
Thiago
Thats 9!
Not counting davis and rampage
Yeah hes a great fighter and a legend!

He is very handsome too! Bwahhha:p:oops:

He didnt make MMA any better. Didnt really leave a mark either

I dont think he is a legend

I'm guessing your join date was your start in watching MMA because your comment is blatantly ignorant. The guy pretty much single-handedly proved that traditional martial arts had a place in modern MMA and has one of the greatest highlight reels in MMA.

I think so. Belt holder, great ambassador for the sport, good highlight feel, creator of scarface, drank his own urine when he didn't have to.

I have no idea who Machida even is

Yes. Just for surviving all the haters at the beginning "ugh his style sucks ugh he's so boring he's just a point karate fighter." He took more shit when he first came to the UFC than any fighter on this site I can remember ever. Legend? Ish.

He was a great fighter. The UFC definition of a "legend" is incredibly subjective. But I think Machida deserves Hall of Fame status.

Machida had the balls to fight everyone. He even fought BJ Penn at HW which is Penns natural weight class

He was the original Karate Kid in MMA. He lead the way for traditional martial artsto be taken seriously in MMA.

He paved the way for guys like Pettis, Thompson, and McGregor.

You could have these karate like stances and still kick butt

I think he is a legend, not that there's any objective criteria for that.

He was a great fighter with a very unique style. He drank his own piss, had a crane kick KO, and gave us the Shadface.

I'm gonna say yes because he is the poster boy of Karate for the western mma. I no longer have to be associated with Fred ettish to represent. karate has always done fine in other countries but it had a really bad rep here in the states because of Mcdojos. I think Keith Hackney was the only one before him that didn't disgrace it in the UFC.
