wow what a bold statement by luke here--in fact this could be said about every fighter on the roster--especially diego sanchez

@Ackmed You just crashed the Islam hype train, if there was ever a train build on his hype in the first place.
But then when you look at Khabib's credentials he just has so much more experience in other forms of grappling and combat sports compared to Islam, so the techniques from those martial arts/sports that he integrated into his arsenal directly translated towards his fights in the ring, even though Khabib (or any of us) may have missed it during his fights seeing it for the first time.

With Khabib, I don't think it's a matter of fight IQ, but rather extensive experience in dealing with various scenarios in a combat situation/fight that allow him to figure out how to get himself into an advantageous position over his opponent compared to someone else who may be unable to create that opportunity to do so.

That being said, give it a couple years time (or maybe 10), and we could be seeing fighters in that division whose skills are great enough to rival Khabib's (or even better) since this sport seems to evolve further with every passing year.

It is unfortunate that he is retiring so soon. He could have been one of the GOATs.

Luke is right for once. 9 billion people on earth and we are all beautiful snowflakes.

Pfftt... we already have, Kahbib was no more dominate than Hughes or GSP, just a little luckier and retired early.

Khamzat will surpass him imo
Certainly possible, but that's a very tall order. Khamzat has a ton of potential. If he destroys Leon the way he's destroyed everyone else, he's going to get his title shot and then the possibilities are really endless.

Completely disagree. When Pete Sampras retired from Tennis with 14 majors this was far beyond what anyone else in the modern era had been able to achieve. Agassi and Connors finished with 8 each. Bjorg and Emerson won a bunch but during the wooden racquet era. Anyway, journalists were saying no one would surpass Sampras for many decades. Federer blew right by him 8 years later. Now Federer and Nadal have 20 and Novak as 17. There is always another great coming from within the ranks.

Have you seen another UFC champion who has never been knocked down, hurt or cut in a fight?

Your criteria may suggest this isn't very important, fair enough, but the point still stands we will probably never see another champion with this incredible trait.
How many fighters in the ufc were told to listen to there fathers plan. His dad came up with a formula to win with minimal damage. Was it exciting? Not necessarily in my opinion. Was it dominant? Absolutely.

Who? Genuinely curious.

Never seen a fighter as dominant as khabib in any sport.
Any sport? A Japanese guy named Kohei won 9 world all around titles and two Olympic all around titles in gymnastics. 10 years straight of being the best.

I can think of multiple champions who made it to the same number of defenses as Khabib without ever being hurt in a fight.

He might be the best fighter ever, but he didn't beat nearly enough top tier opponents to be in the GOAT discussion.

You said any sport homie. He’s way more dominant then Khabib ever was in mma. How long did Khabib hold the throne. 2 years?
Maybe you should check the post you quoted again, homie

TLDR; I'm glad habib gone tbh. Boring style boring personality. Idc how great you are, impossible to get behind some 1-2 fight a year guy.

That have never been dropped or shown blood?
