Luke Thomas with a rare W on how modern pandemic era UFC fans are used to watered down lower quality cards than those of us used to quality

It's all relative, we have multiple "non stars" who are significantly more popular than mma stars of 20 years ago.

Good taym fi be a slap fan tho only scraps dem show live are di big dawgs all Top-10 📈 plus 2 title fights pon di main card 🏆🏆 all prelim scraps basically #1 contender match or 2 win away from di strap str8 bangerz fam 🥋 #bangbus newcumers nuh even shown Live and FREE on YouTube dem like Facebook prelims except dem pon IG nuh Facebook 📲👀
In ufc it’s defend or vacate, but in PowerSlap, it’s defend and vacate consciousness

It is interesting watching people defend UFC putting out a shitty product.

I assume they think this makes them look like a more informed fan, but what I see is someone who is bragging about how they were bamboozled into buying a turd sandwhich
If I had all the money in the world I still couldn’t fathom spending $75? On these trash excuses for ppvs half of which are worst than some fight night cards.

Just reporting in as a massive Inoue fan, thanks

And someone compared Luke to Ariel? Imo Ariel is way more annoying and smarmy. Luke is cringe sometimes but much more tolerable than Ariel.
Yeah Ariel is always trying to stir up drama and does a bunch of weird and annoying stuff in lots of his episodes

He does seem higher in the journalist pecking order than Luke Thomas, but Luke Thomas is more mature and professional and I think he deserves more of the clout that Ariel has currently

I hear ya.

On general principle it is a product worth roughly $20 and being sold for $92 ($79.99 ppv plus you need espn+ @11.99/month)

And they have the nerve to put a WMMA fight on most main cards.

You get 2-3 good fights on most main events.

I think the last S-tier card we had was Topuria vs Holloway - UFC 311 would've been S-tier if Topuria hadn't dropped out, but cause he did it went down to B-tier (Merab vs Umar still fight of the year)

Honestly I can't even bother with the Apex Cards anymore, Vettori vs Dolidze 2? Not even their mothers gonna watch that, who asked for that rematch?

When was this? Google isn't turning up much
I don't have all his tweets from 2020-2021 memorized, but he did make a half-assed apology for it.

I tried finding it on YouTube but could only find responses to it. He probably deleted it.

Here's James Lynch's response to the bs "apology"

I see it this way. Ariel Helwani has superior content and takes. But his delivery is that of a whiny little girl, so it’s hard to sit through that. Luke Thomas has worse takes but his voice is much more tolerable, easier to listen to.

This is obvious on Twitter especially. A lot of jabronis IMO 80% of MMA Twitter weren't watching MMA in the 2000s and most of em probably started watching during Khabib Conor if not the pandemic.

Whenever there's a valid complaint about the shite quality of the card it's easy to spot the lil bois and those who are used to quality over quantity since even though we didn't get weekly cards they put out consistent high quality cards even Fight Nights back then.

It won’t show the tweet. You got another link. I wanna here what he said

forrest griffin, babalu, chael sonnen, dennis hallman, joe riggs, chris lytle, andre arlovski, hinkle. that card is a banger with lytle/riggs as the main card opener. i remember that card. watched it for 20 bucks on direct tv. did you just start watching mma recently?
Can't tell if this is a joke. If you were on sherdog at this time, everyone was bitching about the fact that the UFC was filling cards with TUF guys like Forrest. Forrest had nobody's respect until he beat Shogun.

The co-main event was a rematch from an online street fight.
