Media Luke Thomas says MMA fans last between 5 to 10 years before the fall out of love with MMA

Not for me, but I kind of agree. The majority of my friends who watched MMA went from 2002 to about 2014, and I seem to be the only one still watching it.

I still watch and enjoy it. I just dont watch all the cards like i used too.

I agree, but there will be exceptions. All combat sports have issues because they don't have everlasting teams. You can forever be a Eagles fan. But all the fighters you love are gonna retire, and most are gonna start collecting L's and CTE before that happens and it can be depressing.

Hatdcore fans post on these forums, but he's right

I remember many of my friends becoming fans when silva and gsp were champs and then the emergence of conor due to the Irish connection. But most now hardly watch. Maybe if a big fight is announced they will show interest, but most fans do become casual eventually and boxing is the same

It's not like nba, nfl, football etc were you follow a team each season

Personally I'm not as big a fan as I was a decade ago

Since Turki and the Saudis have taking over boxing, I am much more a fan of it now.

I know you guys hate pillow fighting as you call it, but the calibre of athlete is higher still and the fights are being made

Truly the best era was when fights were shorter notice and fighters just had to be ready to fight in a few weeks so they to focus on honing skill rather than a discovery gameplan to negate a specific opponent. The fights were just what each guy brought to the table and see who's unique style and strengths wins
This. This. This.

I fucking hate opponent specific camps and game plans.

Focus should be on getting better at what you do.

I check Sherdog more than i watch fights weirdly. And somehow i check mma news almost daily on youtube but i rarely watch fights anymore, only some big ones but after the event. So he’s kinda right, i think i watched fights for about 5-7 yrs. Got so frking boring nowadays. The GSP, Anderson era was sth different. Now we have a bunch of divas. Every champ other than Dricus and Pereira keeps ducking the best contenders and are boring as hell…

Been watching MMA since late 90s. Peak fandom during the 2000s. Now I still follow MMA Youtube and once in a while a Sherdog forum plus regularly watch my favorite fighters but I don't watch all events.

I still watch, but it's been watered down and absolutely horrible going into the 2020's

True for me. I watch a lot less MMA than 5 years ago.
Watered down roster, cringy promotions, eh. I care for a very limited amount of fights nowadays.
