Lost Respect for Rogan/Long History of Shilling

Bellator is a stupid namex20
The name isn't great but it's not stupid, and Joe sure loved poking fun at bellator over their name.

Joe telling bellator fighters he wishes they were in the UFC every time they get on. Like wtf? He knows theyre contracted and can't go anywhere. Bringing up the UFC like that only makes bellator seem like its the minor leagues.

no...it means he wants to see the best fighters fight each other, and it is far more likely to get the FEW great fighters in Bellator to join the UFC than to get the MANY great fighers in the UFC to ALL go to Bellator.

Making fun of dada/kimbo but ignoring bad ufc fights(its a long list).

who did NOT make fun of the Kimbo/Dada fight? What does being critical of one circus fight have to do with whether Joe is a UFC "shill" or not? you're not making any argument here...it WAS a clown fight...and I'm pretty sure he's been critical of CM Punk (from a merit standpoint), has he not?

Joe had to say something after they handled Nunes. If he didn't, people would have been on his neck more for all that Rousey butt kissing he did. He did it to save face for himself.

Rogan isn't a complete shill, but people need to stop acting like he's some mma ambassador. He's UFC first and always will be.[/QUOTE]

who is saying he is some impartial ambassador? I'm simply arguing that he is not the shill that so many people around here claim he is.

Joe is actually quite an ambassador for MMA and combat sports in general, now that you mention it. He's long been a strong advocate for BJJ, given his own history with that art. He's talked positively about TKD and karate, and how other striking arts are useful to MMA. He LOVES muay thai and kickboxing (he wouldn't shut up about Lion Fights for quite a while and often refers back to K-1 fights).

of course he is "UFC first"...he has worked for the UFC for longer than most people here have been watching MMA, and he is an integral part of its history. Joe Rogan is as relevant to the UFC identity as Dana and even any individual fighter.

"Shill" implies someone who is overtly dishonest about the company or product they are supporting, by intentionally ignoring or downplaying the negative and bullshitting the positive. Joe Rogan is NOT a "shill". He's an employee and fan, and obviously the UFC is more 'special' to him than any other org, so OF COURSE he is going to have a favourable outlook.

the reality is that a lot of people simply don't like Rogan and they are either unaware or are dishonest about how it clouds their evaluation of how he does his job.

if they watched his podcast enough (and they don't, because they already don't like him), they would realize how silly they sound when they call him a 'shill' for the UFC, because it is simply not the case.

add his disappointment in Jimmy Smith being let go...he feels that there is a spot for Jimmy and it was Schaub who was making all the points about why he was let go. such a shill that Rogan, disagreeing with personnel moves...

Joe doesn't need your respect because he's far more successful than you'll ever be. He is one of the modern day greats when it comes to comedy and is also involved with something he truly enjoys commentating for the UFC which he will eventually be inducted into the hall of fame. The only people that hate on Joe are the same people that are broke and miserable and would probably get their asses kicked by him. People also forget that he was an undefeated tkd champion and is still in better shape today than guys that are half his age

Who cares? My goals are not his goals.

If Joe has an opinion he wants to broadcast, we have the right to question it.
